Al made a great point. Relatives have to earn their respect. In particular, those that did substantial harm. Mariah's mother told her she'll never be as good a singer and she is, among other awful things. It's a blessing if they were able to make amends in the end

Jeff, the name Noel/Noelle (or Noël, which is what you were thinking of, as in Christmas carols, like The First Noël, or as in Noël Coward, the English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer) is very common & comes from the Old French word nael, which means "of or born on Christmas," which became Noël, the word for Christmas in modern French. The name Noel has been given to children born during Christmas since the Middle Ages, and over time has become just another name for any child. It sounded like you thought it was some pretentious name that Noel Gallagher came up with, maybe to troll people who love Christmas or something. The weirdest things annoy you sometimes, which isn't good for your blood pressure. Loosen up a little! 😉
