Some folks have pointed out that Misa's bass riff at the end is reminiscent of Ale's for "Survive" and might be paying homage to it. I've listened to both one after the other and those folks aren't wrong. Others have noted the lower level of the guitars in the mix. l don't have Spotify; would like to know what you find.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 In an interview, Saiki said she learned a lot from Dany's singing in native-like English (Japanese magazine "Massive" vol.42 page 110). I witnessed the live debut of this song 😍 that was played as the encore & finale of the special concert by Band-Maid & The Warning on June 12 in Roppongi, Tokyo . My seat was located on the 2nd floor but in the center meaning in front of the two drummers. I was in bliss! It looked to me that Paulina and Akane literally and happily competed like a duel to see which drummer can kick harder enough to break their bass drum in the joint performance. 🤣 (FYI : In the special concert, The Warning, who opened as the special guest, performed so powerful that the Maids were fired up to start their turn with fullest energy as the hostess band. It was fun like a kind of martial arts between two fighters respecting each other. 😄)

Yes, Saiki has improved her English. Apparently watching Dany sing in English helped her. The Warning went to Japan in June to play 3 shows, only 1 with Band Maid. TW went over a couple weeks early , they got together , finished the song, and shot the mv. Kanami composed the song, and made it challenging. She wrote it in a key higher than Dany or Saiki usually sing in. Lyrics are credited to Miku and The Warning. They did play this live at that one show, with all 8 ladies on stage. But , just a short teaser clip has been officially released to date. Hope they release the full video. Song will be on the upcoming Band Maid album. In a PRS guitars Japan interview, with Kanami and Dany, they said the bands should do a return engagement in Mexico. Dany made the challenge to do a song in Spanish. In one of the interviews addressing a possible future collab, Dany joked that the key would be lower.

You’re right, the mix was very much vocals forward. I think when they performed it live together in Tokyo, the guitars and drums were more noticeable, so hopefully they will release a pro-recording of that performance. I’m impressed you noticed that signature pose of Pau with her left arm cocked back, ready for action. 👍😎

I was at the show in Japan. Yes, the instruments stood out more. I believe they did not want it to seem competitive in the video. In person, it was obvious how much they respected and liked each other. I was in tears by the end.

THIS collab screams "GIRL POWER!". From Dany's opening wail to MISA's thumping bass at the end, the video showcased the individual talents of the members of both bands and proved that two bands with disparate styles could merge their efforts to produce an absolute hard rock banger. This was really an anthem song, so the pace, the higher range, and vocal forward lyrics gave the sound the song needed. Dany hinted that the two bands are planning another future collaboration. They may just be the new "Power Couple" in rock.

So TW and B-M met at a US festival in 2022 and said they should collaborate. They got that opportunity this year. They went to Japan and played three shows, one with Band-Maid. TW traveled to Japan two weeks early to write/compose/record with B-M and record a MV. They then played it together at their one concert together. In an interview on the PRS channel, Kanami and Dany said that more collaborations are in the future. Kanami wants B-M to go to Mexico and and Dany wants the collab to be in Spanish. Dany and Kanami play similar PRS guitars in the same color.

W I N !!!!! 🎀 W I N !!!⚡I think we can just say, at their level, Band-Maid and The Warning are equal peers at the very top of the "Rock" pile. I’ve watched “Show Them” 50 times now and still haven’t been able to drop my eyes down to the lyrics.🤘😂 Thx, Matt! Btw -- I was just thinking: Band-Maid and The Warning, two very different bands, found something that would bring them together -- music! If only the people of the world could find something that would bring them together. I know... if peace and prosperity isn't enough, how about uniting for the very survival of our species! 🤔

This is a blend of two sounds that are very particular to the respective bands. I think it’s very well done. They did this because they love each other’s work. But inevitably, the result will be something different from either usual work. It’s a first attempt, both bands seem intent to do it again in Mexico, and we will see what they do next time. It’s going to be a while, looking at the schedules: the Warning’s planning seems to reach towards 2026 already, and they are growing fast internationally and touring like they had no home. Anyway, whatever they will do will always be a compromise, a fun common side project, which both sides will pursue because they’re friends, and because they admire something in the other, while also feeling a lot of common ground, especially in terms of hard work and being all-female and fiercely independent. It’s not like a sport where they outdo each other. Band-Maid seem to attract some fans who think this way, because their style emphasises speed and virtuosity. The Warning are all about being expressive and marrying Latin temperament with solid rock music. What unites both is that they are all such team players. The solos in Band-Maid are crazy, but they always serve the song, and everyone gets their chance to shine within the space of the song. The Warning being a three-piece, it’s all about sounding good together all of the time. The soloing is replaced by who sings lead. This difference in approach is hard to bridge. It is going to take a tremendous effort to combine the two bands without sacrificing the usual windows for individual displays of excellence. The mini-solo-duets here are a nice nod to this unfulfillable expectation of the fanbase. Ideally, they would write a concept album together, in which over the span of 8-10 songs, every one of these great musicians gets their special moment, while returning to the ranks of loyal team members for most of the other songs. But that’s terribly hard and long to do, I don’t see it happening with how hard they work on their own. So we will just have to be thankful for what they manage to come up with. The best thing about it is the friendship they are showing.

I'm a huge BAND-MAID fan and I really appreciate you mentioning that the guitar sound is too low and is buried in the mix. Absolutely! We, Maidiacs, have to say that out loud so that we can hear Kanami's guitar more clearly in the future. BTW, this song was composed just for the collaboration. BAND-MAID songs are usually more complex and progressive. Enjoy the ride!

I read somewhere that Pau helped Saiki with the "American" pronunciation. She did sort of sing the word "keys" in Japanese English. A major mistake so many people make is saying that people from other countries have "accents" when they speak English. This is not correct. These are not "accents". That is actually the way these people speak English in their countries. Americans speak American English, Canadians speak Canadian English, the Brits speak British English, so it would follow that Japanese speak Japanese English. Singapore has the unique Singlish, a blend of Chinese, Bahasa, and English. Filipinos have Filipino English and Taglish, a mixture of the Tagalog/Filipino and English.
@rexwave46242 ай бұрын
It's good to hear a positive comment about languages. My French friend from Normandy commented that Quebec French sounds like rural Norman French, which makes perfect sense given the history. And Canadian English has fragmented regionally. Listening to the Spanish spoken by TW in an interview in Spanish in Madrid, I could hear the difference between the interviewer and TW's Spanish.

@@rexwave4624 Yep, I get where you're coming from. Spain has Castilian Spanish which I think is the "purest" form (correct me if I'm wrong) while Mexico has Mexican Spanish, which would sound different from the Spanish of South American countries. I'm Filipino, and I'm trilingual. I speak English, Filipino, and Cebuano. While the Filipino and Cebuano languages do have Spanish loanwords, that's where the similarity ends. We just use Spanish mostly for nouns, and it's been a longtime fallacy that Filipinos can speak and understand Spanish.
@rexwave46242 ай бұрын
@@eatsmylifeYT the two or four Filipinos I've known spoke Tagalog and English. I started with the exact fallacy you mention. My mother was an aristo of English and Belgian descent. She taught me "proper" English and French which are well-defined and not from London or Paris. Most importantly, she taught me to analyse what I hear. Interesting what you say about Castilian Spanish. I'll have to check it out. Inspired by TW, I'm trying to learn some Spanish to go with my twenty words of Russian and eight words of Cantonese. Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed the song, but as a drummer I'm surprised that you didn't have a little bit more to say about the drumming. As I feel it's the low point of the song, with its boring simplicity. 🤔

When they performed it live together in Tokyo, Pau and Akane played almost the whole song together in synch (except for a bit longer back and forth duel during the breakdown), which I think is pretty impressive for two drummers who don’t routinely play together. It’s a basic rock groove that fits the song; I don’t think the goal was to show off.
