Sorry to hear about your foot problems. Hope it is better now. Do what you need to do for you. I'm sure Stitch and Light ing missed you. Looks like they plenty of bears for company. Please keep us posted. Take care and stay safe.

I recommend trying a new pair of shoes, especially if they are Altras. I've seen a lot of foot injuries recently due to the declining quality of their shoes. I had a metacarpal injury to my right foot back in October. I recovered and hiked in the same pair again. This causesd it to flare back up again. The Lone Peak 5 had about 250 miles on them at the most. I bought a new pair of Lone Peak 6, and I've had no more issues. My wife had tendinitis due to her Altras about 1 month after me. Had to buy her another pair, which had less miles than mine, and it resolved he injury. We are currently looking at switching to Brooks or some other brand due to Altra's lack of quality and durability.

Such a bummer. Quite honestly, I don't know why more of you aren't sidelined regularly with injuries! I hope this is a short detour for you and your foot heals quickly.

I recently talked to a thru hiker (2015) that only stayed in two hostels and also only took four zeros. And she said that too many.

Kinda bummed you guys don't wait for each other when injuries happen. Did you go to urgent care? Maybe its something that can be taped. Like it may hurt, but finishing the hike won't be dangerous and you can do a real treatment when you're finished.

Each person is hiking their own hike. While you form a tramily, it doesn’t mean you are always hiking together. Each is on different deadlines. Stitch and Lightning are not from the US so they will only have 6 months before they have to exit the country. That means that they have to do a minimum number of miles each day to finish in time.
