for the Leno story, another podcast talked with Seinfeld about this and Seinfeld said that is Jay. He said he (Jerry) does the same if he isnt traveling with his wife, staying in normal hotels. He said he got in at 1am that night from something else, didnt have a rental and asked for lunch. Even better, is 2 old ladies saw him fall and thought he looked like Leno but didnt believe it was him, until they walked up to see he is ok. After they checked him out, he asked them to run him to a different place to get a chicken parm sandwich instead of having to sit in a bar with people watching the game. And then at the place getting the Sandwich, the staff said he was bleeding and he walked to CVS to get a eye patch....

It is then choosing to alienate normal people and associate instead with solely and specifically the ultra-wealthy that makes a person out of touch. They take these cars to meets of real enthusiasts with cars ranging from miatas to koenigseggs, and dont look down their nose at anyone, talk to everyone, and don't belittle people for their preferences. When they mock billionaires, it's because they buy these cars, never drive them, and instead of using them to spread their enthusiasm with others, use them only to make others feel less than them.

Both people were raised with certain privileges to be sure, but neither were silver spoon kids and neither were simply given things by their parents, just afforded certain opportunities others may not have or had a harder time accessing. Both recognize those privileges openly and honestly, and still understand and know what being a normal person is like. Just because a person does not currently occupy a specific socioeconomic space doesn't mean they cannot touch on their past experiences to understand, in some small part, what those people may be dealing with or going through. Do they understand what it's like to struggle to pay bills or buy food? Probably not, or at least not to the extent of many--that being said, they are extremely self conscious and real about the luck they had and privileges they enjoyed that allowed them to get where they are, and equally understand the many ways that others may not have access to the opportunities they had, and thus are happy to share their experiences with people who otherwise wouldn't be able to have them in any small measure. Sympathize may be better, but it implies pity to a certain degree, and I feel deeply that Doug, Matt, and Zack pity nobody and look down on nobody, despite the privileges and opportunities they had that afforded them their lifestyles that they enjoy.

Absolutely. At the beginning of 2024 I was focusing on purchasing a Lotus Emira. I deemed that too expensive. Then I moved onto a CT-4 Blackwing (Which to be honest I cant get out of my head) and while half the price of the lotus I also ended up deeming that "too expensive". So what am I on now? A stock NB miata lmao. theres something about an 8k sports car that I can beat up and not care that makes it SO appealing.

I think he said he is glad it’s lowkey over because he never got in an accident or bad accident in another person’s car. If car tech is so terrible now how bad is the tech in these current cars going to be in 10 years when it is no longer getting updates?

It will be complete shit and every enthusiast and car manufacturer is aware of it. It’s the common consumer that isn’t thinking ahead that’s blind to it which is why the manufacturers can get away w/ selling it.
