I miss Doug Henning. I truly enjoyed watching him and his magic on TV back in the day.

Doug Henning actually started in the 70s, I saw him on Broadway in the 70s, I love both the 70s and 80s that was the favorite time of my life.

I loved this guy in the early 80's when I was a kid👍 Doug's illusions were simple but they were live onstage which left no room for error. That made his shows more real than today's edited magician shows.

Doug Henning's tv shows used to air in Brazil. I was a little boy then, I only watched a show or two. But I never forgot Doug. He was such a likeable showman, he'd get your attention with a simple smile.

Doug Henning was such an upbeat and really nice person this really was evident in his performances.He had such a peaceful energy with such enthusiasm. A fond memory for so many growing up in the late 70 early 80s Check out the Magic Show on Broadway its on DVD a true work of art from one of magics masters

Magic was certainly around in the seventies a lot of people were doing it but it was his style that made the difference I think he was one of the first to get rid of the top and tails

Doug Henning is an absolute legend! He totally admits his act is an illusion. He is respectable. Unlike Chris Angel who relies on smoke and mirrors and Photoshop.

I used to do magic back when I was a kid (1970s) and I remember the professional magicians hated fakes, they liked Kreskin bc he never claimed to have any special psychic powers but they really hated Uri Geller bc he did claim to have special powers.

He was not only an amazing magician, he was also a great host, stage presence and personality that children of all ages were drawn to. Nowadays it's all about appearing otherworldly to the audiences (i.e Criss Angel). It's all about dressing like a Gothic "Prince of Darkness", diverting that audience away from the actual magic tricks themselves...

Also people like Criss Angel have absolutely no talent and rely on camera tricks. I'll give you an example he asks somebody to pick a card and the card is written on his arm in Texta. The only problem is he's asked about 100 people to do the same trick and they only show you when he gets it right

that is because doug and others from his time were real illusionists.. not just on the stage but their persona seemeed to follow along out of the fame field and the stages. They are legends on their own right :) beuatifull to see this still today after many years. My late frind dennis loomis was very close to doug and he only told me good things about doug H.

If you look closely @ 1:22 a few of the red squares on the Rubix cube are recessed a little which a normal cube doesn't look like that so I'm sure it's the key to that trick just not sure how he did it
@Chali197115 жыл бұрын
Doug did perform lots of illusions before David Copperfield did. At first Copperfield saw Doug perform. Doug was not the best performer because he was no pop star like David Copperfield. No matter if music or magic, "good looking", "great clothes", "vip dinners", and so far, are today much more important for the audience like in former times. RIP Doug Henning!
