I think KD focus was on Mood because its the Mood of Moscow that is attracting people. People aren't flocking there for their theology, even though they might receive it later on. His criticism was more about how the are drawing people to themselves and why they are "popular" rather then addressing the fault in their theology.

DeYoung's article could have done more and he could have wrote it in a different way, but what he did address still has teeth. The Scriptures repeatedly emphasize how Christians (and especially pastors) must carry themselves with virtue (as the article is terming it). DeYoung's particular article was pointed at this particular problem. I do believe addressing the wrong theology is ultimately necessary to address the root of this problem, but the problem itself can still be pointed out and people be warned to not imitate a man like Douglas Wilson. Moscow's response proves the point further.

Would you be ok with DeYoung criticizing Kenneth Copeland for his tone while praising a lot of his efforts and ignoring Copeland’s theology?
@lcs-salam
@lcs-salam 8 ай бұрын
@@Underdogtheology No. What I am saying is an article that points out the problems DeYoung does still has teeth. He is addressing real problems, though I agree he could have done it better. We should be careful not to imply that Wilson's bad "tone" is any less serious than his federal vision error. DeYoung is pointing out that people are following Wilson because of a love for this lack of virtue. They want to be Crusaders for Christendom. This by itself is a worthy problem to tackle.

Yeah the Wilson spanking thing wasn’t abuse. They aren’t perfect but even erroring on the side of the self control side is better. Doug Wilson’s view on federal vision is just classic Presbyterianism and the reason you put bad beliefs on him is because you have become what you lecture against. Doug is a awesome preacher. Try actually standing on the high ground you proclaim

Doug Wilson and company were gleeful that people were trying to respond to them and you were saying they were playing right into Moscow's hand. Trump is able to do the same if someone stands up to him like some of the Republican candidates. Almost all of those candidates are far better people than Trump.What is the most frustrating is that there are enough Christians who think this is all okay just like Wilson's boys think what he does is okay.@@smt0202

They don’t talk about the real issues because they’re really on the same team with Moscow. DeYoung and others essentially believe the same things, and have the same attitude - but “wouldn’t say it like that”. What leaves a bad taste is the pervasive arrogance. Pride and arrogance are tricky because it’s almost impossible to smell it on yourself, but everyone else sure can. MacArthur, Wilson, the Christendom bros… that whole lot have the distinct aroma of pride.
@person6768
@person6768 8 ай бұрын
That's not pride on them it's confidence in the lord and it's heartbreakingly sad people can't see the difference. When God and your Bible is your source you show confidence in what your talking about because the Bible is your source. People see modern day Paul's and they confuse it with pride.

years ago Edwin Freidman talked about combatting chronic anxiety. He said on key realization is that the chronically anxious think that selfishness is ALWAYS more to be feared than not having a clearly defined self (who i am where I end and where you begin, ie. psy differentiation). I think Friedman was right that the tone of the nation had turned chronically anxious by the mid 1990's. What is needed bold differentiation- "pleasing God not men"- the bold side of Christian speech and witness. And the more the Chronically anxious condition, the more people in and outside the church will try to "herd" those speaking up to go along with the anxious system of ameliorating the least mature and accepting quick fix solutions. If this diagnosis is correct, SOMETHING LIKE what Cannon is doing is needed. Right now, I'm glad for them.

I thought the whole thing was a continuation of their past relationship . Wilson and DeYoung have been on good terms for a while. Going back to 2015 if not further . The gospel collation has posts this about Wilson in 2017 but said similar as far back as 2016 .”by the end of 2013, Doug Wilson wrote Against the Church, calling people back to a more traditional covenant theology, and by 2017, he stopped identifying with the label, “Federal Vision,” as he became more critical of those he had earlier identified with, within the movement. Recently, Wilson has strongly affirmed the imputation of Christ’s active obedience in our justification, and the Reformed understanding of justification and sanctification, while still strongly stressing what he thinks is crucial to covenant theology, namely, the objectivity of the covenant.1” there are several other groups that have stressed his separation from the theology. Also Ligonier has in that time restored their videos where Wilson has spoken at after removing them years earlier when the PCA condemned federal vision. I still don’t trust his theology. He has in my opinion moved from FV to N.T. Wright’s Pauline theology, with a mix of Lutheran baptismal regeneration. Blessings Bill

You posted: "..calling people back to a more traditional covenant theology..". It is no longer possible to believe such things. We are in a post-Modern, post--Christian world. And we already know where Christian nationalism ends: Millions upon millions of Christians killing each other over trivial theological distinctions.

Can't stand the Wilson crowd. Having said that, DeYoung being a "gatekeeper" is troubling already. I don't see him as a strong enough voice...or not willing to use his voice strongly. He's the geek (I use that term affectionately) who made it, not a leader of men on a large scale. He's the guy behind the other guys offering helpful corrections on Greek Tenses. He's not a guy I'd follow into battle. *Also, you might want to play with your color balance, you are looking a little too "pinkish" here.

Just an FYI, the RE320 is an end address microphone, meaning the capsule is facing the end of the microphone, and therefore that is where you should speak into it. As compared to a side address, where you speak into the side of the microphone. TLDR, it would sound better if you pointed the microphone towards your mouth, and not your desk.
