@bvoyelr Жыл бұрын
Interesting little journey I had trying to figure out why the range of this thing was so much better -- 20% more than the Model S Plaid. The answer is simple: the battery is a bit bigger (113 vs 100). Drag ratios are the same, but the improved powertrain presumably accounts for the rest. It's weird how these companies don't talk about the size of their battery packs anymore. I'm still not 100% sure how big my Tesla's battery pack is, though the internet seems relatively confident of it's size. But they treat the range as something mystical when it's mostly just a bigger battery. Props to Lucid on the motor improvements, though. From what I hear it's a pretty neat innovation.

No I remember way back when when Tesla stopped naming the models of their cars P85D 100D 75 etc. they just condensed everything into names, standard and long range. There were multiple reasons like the numbers are generally meaningless to the avg consumer (how much better is a 85kwh battery than a 75), another reason was it put a strain on the production for Tesla(especially back then-ramping up) since they were making so many models to order. And prolly the biggest reason was that they just didn’t want to show the battery numbers to ppl. Can’t recall if there was an official reason but ppl speculated back then that it was about not showing the buyer (or journalists) every piece of information-maybe to hide it from competitors as well. Doesn’t really make that much sense though when shops can deconstruct the car and just examine it.

Nice colour scheme. If they would settle with frameless door windows, it would be awesome.

I personally don't mind frameless doors. They suit the car very well.

One day this car is going to be in The fast and the furious movie and Don Torreto is going to beat it with his muscle car and say something outrageous about family and something about not whats under the hood but about who the driver is behind the wheel, and we will all roll our eyes and scoffing.

Would love to see Lucid start creating other models at more approachable pricepoints. The styling of the Sapphire also looks great, kind of reflects 8-8.5 generation Audi, whose design language has always been very beloved in the car scene.

The value of his vehicle should be 10 when you compare the performance of a Rimac given its price tag and other hyper cars, this value is amazing!

They loose $380k per car they sell, it would be a miracle if it sucked. Lucid will be gone in 2/3 years.

@@jamesfynnhere6983that's if you bring up their factory costs. As they sell more cars. This figure goes down and eventually Into profitability. The same was once true for Tesla.
@@Tommmmmmmmmmmm Easily verifiable info. Bloomberg article published 5 days ago: "EV Maker Lucid’s $338,000 Loss Per Car Turns Investors Off". Google doesn't allow the link to be used in replies... But sure, "misinformation", cry more.

Test drove a Lucid Air recently -- not the Sapphire but the Air Touring. Loved it. Nice, smooth and power. Imagine what would be like to ride in the Sapphire with more than 1200 horsepower :)

Doug - Another native to the 303 here. Here's an idea for a April 1st video. You should review a lawn mower with all the seriousness of any car. I hope you like my idea...the year after could be a snow blower..😂😂😂

Love the design of the Air, would love to see one in person (other than the other direction on the highway). I personally have zero interest in any vehicle that can reach 60 in under 8 seconds. I do like that some Lucid models are a the top of the efficiency list - that’s what interests me. Hopefully they’ll survive and introduce more models at lower price points - that remain in the EPA’s top ten most efficient.

@steven.I.patterson. There's a new entry level model set to be released here in Australia early next year that I saw being advertised a couple days ago - I really like the Lucid Air, so clicked and took a closer look...very nice, but unfortunately with our luxury car taxes here, it's still A$140k. Cheers!
