@Sacto16543 жыл бұрын
The problem: the GR Yaris is built on a one-of-a-kind platform. As such, Toyota is probably losing money on each car made. That's why Toyota will replace it with the GR Corolla, which is built on the current Corolla hatchback platform. As such, it makes it a lot easier to homologate the GR Corolla for the US market.
@obidean39643 жыл бұрын
If GR Corolla, it's not homologation, it will be another hot hatch player since it's not made to obey with the WRC rule. It's not bad, hell no, it will be great really but don't expect it to be as special as this pocket rocket GR Yaris. My 2 cents ...
@joshsuelto3 жыл бұрын
the reason is there is no market for small cars in US market but outside the US gr yaris sold like a pancake. toyota would need to change the gr yaris just to meet the safety standards. that is probably the reason why they will use the corolla platform in US
@nickwong25253 жыл бұрын
In order for them to participate in WRC, they needed to build 25,000 units of GR Yaris in a continuous 12 month period as part of the WRC homologation rules, hence why this car was made and limited production. Akio Toyoda wanted the company to still be represented in WRC, that's why he authorized this project and considered this as his passion project because this is not a joint venture like the 86 and Supra. So ya, in my opinion, i don't think the GR Corolla will be the direct successor because GR Corolla chassis is based on your everyday car and GR Yaris chassis is from rally standards to a road car.

But as always, it’s a detuned Golf GTI or R anyway. Volkswagen which still owns the Cupra (Seat) brand use the best trim for the Gold and sometimes Audi and sells the platform slightly detuned as Seats and Skodas.

@@billigerfusel nope, yaris platform already existed. One for Supra didn't. @@weetikissa I expect stuff to happen with the 500 lineup, not much more. Inside intel doesn't look promising when dealing with Fiat's all Italian board of dinosaurs. Know multiple people who quit design jobs at Fiat because of poor work practices, such as the inability of leads to accept criticism etc. Basically saying anything negative about Fiat or challenging their existing mindset is herecy in there - so I have my doubts to how far PSA can pull them out of the dirt. Guess we'll see.

As a huge Matrix guy, I yearned for a Toyota hot hatch. I'm already saving pennies for the Corolla GR, which may or may not come to the US. I don't care what sinful actions I must partake in, I want a GR Yaris or Corolla. I seriously want one so bad. I've never, ever felt this way about any other car... screw a Lambo, I want a GR Toyota hatchback.
@RolandKoller903 жыл бұрын
A GR Corolla hatch would be MINT! I believe it isn’t Toyota to blame for not being available in the US. I think it’s our country that’s to blame, with all the silly rules and regs.
@@RolandKoller90 which is weird because it feels like Europe is much more restrictive when it comes to emissions and all that edit: Car And Driver have had an article up for a while speculating that the Corolla Hatch GR would come out for the 2022 model year. With how popular Golf GTIs and Hyundai Volester Ns and Civic Si's have been, it's a healthy market to get into.

I see this car in person often, and it looks so good in real life. It takes me back to older japanese crazy small cars, like the Mazda 323 GTR from the early 90ies with its 4wd and turbocharged engine (210hp if i remember it correctly which was lots back in those days)

I think the real problem with on screen buttons to control things like volume or temperature, is the idea of tap, tap, tap, to increment it by one at a time on touch; Instead what they need to do is, at the sense that something has touched the button, to increment it, but make it a continuous. This continuous up or down while pressing the button should curtail the problem with tap, tap, taping the button to get the desired result....Code it for continuous increase or decrease the second the button is touched and that should help to fix the problem with using on screen buttons...and maybe set the increase or decrease speed based on how hard the button is pressed.
