Practicality starts with an objective scale based on cubic footage of cargo volume, then he might give it plus or minus a point or two for other factors such as fuel economy, seating capacity, difficulty driving around town or backing into a parking space, and how much attention it attracts. In this case, the car has 18.2 cubic feet of trunk space, which according to the DougScore scale is a 5. I guess other factors like fuel economy and seats weren't significant enough to change that score here, so it stayed a 5. As for what it takes to get a 10, first keep in mind that every car is being compared to every other car Doug has reviewed, not just within the same class. If you need specifics, look at the DougScore website. www.dougdemuro.com/dougscore

Very well researched presentation. I have one and I definitely do not recommend the seat massage/ ventilation. I have it on my 2020 750i but this option made the seat nobbly, hard and uncomfortable compared to 7-series without this option. This is because of the elements that they had to insert for massage and ventilation. It honestly is a useless gimmick that I used perhaps only 3 or 4 times in the first few weeks of ownership but never used it again, just like the sandwich maker that every household has but to only be used once or twice. However, the laser lights are wonderful and a must. They light up the road very very very clearly more than half a mile ahead, even with so many cars ahead or coming opposite, with its clever selective beam block around cars in front. The 180 degrees front and back cameras are a godsend when joining a tight badly visible T junction or backing up from my tight garage exit straight into busy road with no visibility till half the car back is in the busy road. Also, when you drive into a tight unfamiliar tortuous path only to discover that the only way out is to back up, then just press a button, let go the steering wheel and the car will trace exactly the same path backwards. Also the drive recorder which will record with 4 cameras all around the car 20 seconds before you press the button and 20 seconds after. It also spontaneously record in case it senses an accident. I also regularly do 37mpg (imperial gallons) on my regular weekly 488 miles round trips between south London and north Manchester. If you enjoy serene calm driving like I do, this car is a dream to drive and makes you feel the dignity of being of the human race.

That's incredible value for money, IMHO. I bought literally fully loaded 2018 740Le with 55k miles on the odometer (90k km) and paid 1/3 of what the thing had cost new late 2017. It has every single option ticked what one could have from the factory except a fridge as hybrid models cant have that. Albeit car is now more than 4 years old, the overall executive experience and opulent "sense of occasion" is still there, very much indeed. Car simply offers so, so much more than something similarly priced new 5-series or Mercedes E-series ever would offer to the owner. Yeah its used car and all but I got a BMW Premium Selection warranty for it; 2 years / 40k km here in the Europe. I've put more than 6k miles / 10k km on the thing and had zero problems so far. To put short; the car is incredible.
