That's one thing that bugs the heck out of me with this 2.3 L 4-cylinder engine -- *SO MANY* car reviewers simply *IGNORE* the fact that it gets more horsepower and *much* more torque when you put 93-octane fuel in there. I currently drive a 2019 Ford Ranger, and had a 2015 Ford Mustang before that, and both of them are equipped with that 2.3 L turbo 4. 93-octane fuel makes a HUGE difference -- a *very* noticeable difference -- when I put 93 octane in there vs. 87 octane. Those "tie downs" are actually the Trail Sights. They line up with the front, center of each front tire. If you see the Trail Sight, you know exactly where your front tire is. That is critical in certain situations with a big hood like this. That came in VERY handy when going off road at the Bronco Off Roadeo. BTW, Doug, you should go to the one in Vegas if you REALY want to see what a Badlands with Sasquatch, like the one you reviewed here, is really designed to do.

I just wish the rear seats folded down into a flat floor. The way it is, it’s just bit more cargo than a hatchback, because it’s more square. Honestly don’t understand North America. Let’s kill station wagons and actual mini vans (Mini vans are not mini anymore) and make larger suvs with the same or less cargo capacity, that use more fuel. Then let’s put smaller displacement turbo charged engines in them to somewhat cut back on fuel because the vehicles heavy. This Bronco gets a pass tho cause it’s cool, an actual truck and off road capable.

@@WDMurphy I am relatively certain that the molded "tie downs" mount fastens under the edge of the hood? That's my recollection although it's been months since I've seen one in the flesh.The salesman told me those tie downs were to secure light lines up to the roof to protect the vehicle paint from damage caused by branches while off road.They did not appear substantial to secure a canoe being buffeted by the wind at 70 mph on the freeway but again I may be wrong.My canoe carrier says to run cam straps directly to the vehicle frame from the bow and stern of the boat.

@@joesprague1464 It riping off might happen but I highly doubt it'll "RIP the HOOD open" as I said in reply to you saying it would "rip the hood open" and to see exactly the mounting point and what it looks like apart and taken off kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXbGoplpp6mahbs the time stamp shows the frame riser it attaches to. and the video clearly shows its location with the finder off. edit: if this is adequate for a canoe the I'm going to just guess the ones on the bronco might be too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKjFapWQfMamqKs&ab_channel=fishyaker or kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJuTloKBrJJ8otE "Trail sights with 150-pound tie-down capacity" from manual page 3 media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/product/2021/bronco/pdf/21_Bronco_TechSpecs.pdf

Actually those hood hooks would be very useful. Especially for those who own a kayak and carry it on the roof. You can use it to tie down the fronte

"faster than the Wrangler" Jeep: we have now the 392
@wun1gee3 жыл бұрын
And the 4xe, which will do 0-60 in 6 seconds flat. Car & Driver did a hilarious puff piece for the Bronco about how it was faster than the Wrangler. They used a 1st model year JL 4-door with the base power train against a 2-door Bronco with the V6 and then talked about how it was quicker than the Wrangler. No 4xe, no 392. Base Wrangler Pentastar. In a 4-door compared to a 2-door Bronco. This is the quality of automotive journalism we get these days.

Big hp is no good for off roading. The key is NOT to spin the tires!
@wun1gee3 жыл бұрын
@@turbanwearersblow Depends on the type of offroading. In some types of offroading wheelspeed is desirable, such as mudding. Even rock crawling, sometimes wheelspeed is a desirable trait. Like when you have wet/muddy tires. But in rock crawling, more often than not torque is king and when it comes to torque, the Wrangler is still king. The 392, Ecodiesel and 4xe all produce considerably more torque than any Bronco trim and do so at lower RPMs, which is where you want that torque. 1200-1400 RPM, not 3500...

@@turbanwearersblow you've got a point... But why say that is faster then? It may not be faster than the Wrangler, however could be a better off-roader... Just saying

Rich people should get the Hummer Ev anyway 🤷♂️

@@WhoMikeO The Hummer EV doesn’t exist and is a long way off. The prototype was a fraud. GM used extension cords to power it. It has no motor and no battery pack. They got caught and had to admit they only have a “display vehicle”. They confessed the trucks shown driving in the commercials were just computer generated images.
