This time has been a much tougher watch. 1) No needlers - Nik Airball, Eric Peterson etc 2) No well known vloggers that we know their personality outside of Doug 3) The big winner only speaks chinese and isn't moved when he wins a million dollar pot. 4) The big hands generally lack intellectual depth and are just unfortunate, or the loser was lighting money on fire. 5) Doug was only there 5 minutes. If you would have told me 1 year ago that the lodge had caught up in product to hustler I would have said you were crazy. However, we are there now.

@DougPolkPoker I have a question, the $18k in $33k hand is a 54.5% pot bet do you really think that betsize is too big? Second question, wouldn't a normal pot sized raise be $18*3+$33 be $87k (there is a flush draw there) why do you state that a raise to $68k is big? You giver your opponent more odds when you raise smaller this is a raise of $50k which is a raise an amateur would make (2 chips of $25k extra, it reduces his 'thinking' and he is rounding down the raise and not doing 3 chips of $25k which would give away his strength, so this is a clear read he had a strong hand imo). But about the bet size, why do you state this is a big raise I don't get it?
@harold7792
@harold7792 6 ай бұрын
It would be good to include a time-stamp for this hand; it's 19:52. Here are my responses: 1. GTO strategy shows that c-betting anywhere from 20%--50% of the pot on the flop is optimal. Note that you correctly wrote the percentage of the pot as "54.5%." And, I think betting between 25% and 33% is even better, as I believe you'll see that more often, which is why Doug states he thinks the $18k should be smaller. (C-betting 50% on the flop is actually considered high in these present times.) 2. You have an error in your math for a "pot-sized raise." So, the pot is $33k, as you state. The villain bets $18k. Suppose you make a pot-sized raise. If you add the villain's $18k bet to the pot, and then add your $18k portion of your pot-sized raise, you get a total pot-sized raise equal to $18k x 2 + $33 = $69. Having said the above, for *No Limit Hold 'Em* (or other *non-PLO*) games -- and really answering your second question -- I feel we don't so much talk about "raising pot." Generally, the raises are based on how much the initial bettor bet. And we generally see a raise between 2.5x and 3x of the initial bet (a 2x raise of the initial bet is pretty small and not common). If you want to raise and you're out of position, then we generally see a raise of at least 4x of the initial bet (use a larger raise when you're out of position). So, for this hand, Peter has position on Action Dan. And, hence, Peter's (the raiser) raise of $68k = 3.8x of Action Dan's (the initial bettor) 18k bet, which is definitely on the larger side. Also, if you want to *re-raise*, you can use that same rule of between 2.5x and 3x of the person's raise (that person's total bet) before you. (So, there was an initial bet, then someone else raised, and then you re-raise. Call that "someone else" the initial raiser.) Here, that person's "raise" before you is what he announces as his total bet. Lastly, the following is a technical point, but you definitely want to know the definition of the minimum re-raise: The minimum re-raise is double of the *actual* raise of the person who acted before you. Keep in mind that someone who raises will usually announce their *total* bet, including the raise. Here's an example: The initial bettor bets 100. Someone else raises to 300 (total bet = 300). Thus, the "minimum re-raise" would be 2 x (300-100) = 2 x 200 = 400. So, technically, the action could go: bet 100 -> raise to 300 -> re-raise to 400. But note how small your re-raise (or total amount) of 400 is. So, min re-raising does not happen much. (Sort of a tangent: What “raise pot” in *PLO* means: So, the pot is $33k, as you state. The villain bets $18k. Then “raise pot” = $33k + $18k = $51k. I just want to mention that, too.) I hope this helps.

Given how stationy Dwan usually is I don’t think he will ever fold any flush on that first hand, so it’s more +EV to just bet halfpot making him fold weak top pairs since no matter the sizing he will almost always call flushes there and turns out even sets clearly.

Doug; I think your being a little hard on yourself for many reason, these being; 1) Your Doug Polk-Your a major star in the poker world and if your going to take time to promote a game at a different location than your own they better make damb sure it’s worth your time 2) You own your own poker room- Your not only a poker player but a businessman who owns a poker club. You taking time away from your own business to help a competitors. That deserves a lot of respect 3) You could be promoting your own club instead of someone else’s. This speaks for itself. In the end you owe Husler nothing so unless you’re doing it for a good friend you deserve to be treated better….but I come from the late 80’s-90’s where the top players were always treated like gold when they walked into a Las Vegas casino… You know how many times I seen Stu Ungar treat dealers like shit and the bosses would come over and apologize to him and change out the dealer?

Real question, how does one buy in for 1M? Who's escrowing? Where does someone keep 1M in liquid assets for a buy in?

Good review... I thought this years overall content was very disappointing, compared to last year. I understand it must be complicated getting millionaires with time to come and play. With the 5-7 players, overall felt it was pretty average viewing

Re: the 77 on K744K, sure we have all the Kx ourselves but how are we beat here exactly? 1 combo K7s, 1 K4s and 1 44... Bluffs also super unlikely ofc maybe the odd 65s 85s that follows through. Crazy spot

Remember the bets. Preflop was pretty small. Peter raised the flop to 68k. Immediately, the most likely hand he raised with is Kx. The turn paired up the board, giving Peter at least 2 pairs. The river K sealed the deal. 77 was an easy fold.

Any King has Kings full of 4’s, which beats 7’s full of Kings. The fact that Peter had the case 7 gave him the super nuts, meaning he had the perfect setup for stacking King whatever. Peter should have went all in, it’d be virtually impossible for anyone to fold a King in that spot and Dan had a relatively easy fold. A similar situation can happen with Ace X versus pocket pairs. The other day I opened AQ from early position. Board ran out A A 3 K 3- All of the money went in by the river. I knew my opponent didn’t have AK, so 99.9% he has the other Ace and we chop. My opponent had pocket 3’s.

Please don't reply if you don't understand the game. Flop raise + bomb turn is not Kx

@@Johnny-cz2wv I think he can sometimes also have AK, but you're right it's not many Kx. The only problem I would have, is how often is Peter actually bluffing that board on the river? It's probably not enough to call.

Sooo was this Peter guy even capable of having enough bluffs in these spots? He seems like a typical loosepassive fish.. anyone know from the full footage?

@@fomori2 but they don't let him play against the garbage players. That was the whole point of not letting him play anymore days. And when Ryan comes on the Lodge, he doesn't shut the F up and just pisses off the audience
