Cathay's new "Vantage Pass" promotion, their brand new aria suites, PEY and Y for 777-300ERS cabin looks absolutely stunning. took several flights with them recently and they were superb, including long haul flights. I can really see the improvements cathay are trying to make and are making. The past is the past, we should now talk about the recovery road for cathay instead. It will only be better and better.

It will take time and even though they have had a few flight cancellations recently due to pilot shortages, I believe they can gain its former glory.

The key decisions made by key executives for the Cathay group, including the cut of jobs and closure of Cathay Dragon (KA), its regional brand that mainly operates Chinese routes, during the pandemic, in my opinion, is a wrong decision because it caused pilot and crew shortage that later caused flight cancellations between December 2023 and February 2024. Since 2023 and early 2024 I have flown Cathay from London to HK Return and HK to Singapore Return a number of times. I have tended to prefer the HK to Singapore route (and I don't mind T4 Changi) though I feel its competes & matches its services with Singapore Airlines. Generally I have enjoyed the experience of flying with Cathay over SQ and BA. i do understand that the airline had struggled since covid but so did many other airlines. Do note that Cathay's Skytrax ranking was number 8 in 2023 where in the previous year it was number 16 which is quite a jump. The only other top 10 airline that made such a jump in the Skytrax was EVA air (Taiwan)

In all honesty, I can see why their reputation declined, but I think that was before the pandemic hit. The pandemic damaged the company, but not the brand or the reputation too much. I flew with them recently on their a350s and 777-300ER, and I found that their economy class is a top-notch product. Their new IFE is definitely the best in the world, the meals and snacks are great, the seats are comfortable (especially on the a350-1000 it was super comfy!) and functional, and you can see that they are putting effort into their hard and soft product (Their new IFE, metal cutlery in economy). The crew were hit and miss, with 2 sets of brilliant crew, and 2 sets of average crew. I think they still have one of the best economy products in the world.

How is their economy class seating? I haven’t been with CX in over a decade because I found their seats too small.
@barcafan90258 ай бұрын
@@canto_v12 In all honesty, the seats are all comfortable. The economy class seats on the A350-1000 are exceptional in terms of comfort. Cathay are definitely on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of seat pitch and width for sure. The screens are all at least 11 inches (apart from the a330), and all the seats have a device + cupholder tray (apart from the a330, again). I would absolutely recommend flying with them. My only gripe is the fact that they switched to a 3-4-3 on the 777, which is noticeably narrower than their A350 seats. Just try booking on the A350 if you do decide to fly with them again... anyhow I would still prefer the CX 777 seats over most other airlines in economy.
