i was at download from 2003 to 2011... I normally spent my time at the barrier and would spend most of the day crushed to watch the music i wanted. Korn headlined the second stage a while back as it was after jonathans health issues. download is a rock festival it just used to have a bit more metal now their trying to find a balance. if you want a metal festival in the UK youd go to bloodstock.

Completely agree. It’s kind of annoying that to watch a band you like you can’t stand too far forward otherwise you just get smashed about by the crowd. I’m too old for that now 😂

@@RobGalley agreed man i did all that in my 20's the downside to spending all day everyday at the barriers was food couldnt eat for the whole day until headliner finished and living off the water the staff gave out.. i do oftern wonder how i survived sometimes.

McFly will turn a lot of heads. Most people aren't aware of their heavier side that they'll lean into at download. Good booking 👍

Tbf their latest album was purposely written to have as much inspiring guitar playing in it for their younger audience as possible to encourage them to pick up instruments & get into more rockier music so I’m sure they’ll do a great set at Download 🎸🤟

It's not just the bigger bands people don't like, it's the bands you've not heard of. I wet in 2023 to see Metallica and Slipknot. I also discovered bands I'd not heard of before such as Mammoth WVH, Parkway Drive and The Hu. Had a great time. Also, The Hu played a cover of Sad but True on a day when Metallica were playing. It took a lot of balls to do something like that, and they nailed it 😁

Exactly that! I got into loads of bands through seeing them at festivals, it’s a great way to experience bands you wouldn’t know about otherwise!

I saw Korn at Download years ago and they were great. I wasn't a fan beforehand, afterwards I was.

@RobGalley They're a very underrated band, I only got into them because I heard them on a UK music mag cover CD, glad I did. Pity Download got busted instead of them, maybe there would have been less complaining. 😂

Biggest amount of bands most are bad only about 15 good bands mainly the female fronted bands McFly arent even rock let alone metal that was the most ridiculous one to have

We all have one 💁‍♂️ & what a ridiculous thing to say that Mcfly aren’t rock - you do realise ‘rock’ music has many sub-genres & categories? Mcfly are absolutely a rock band. They’re pop-rock. Not quite Metallica or AC/DC but rock still.
