Did a build around a Cobra MkIII. I'd forgotten what a fun and versatile little ship this is - takes me back - I held on to one of these for the longest time when I started my Elite career. Zooming around the instance scanning wakes is also helping me manage / learn the switch to HOTAS. And that 2 second fast scan - sweeeet!

Thanks for this guide! I can confirm it still works in 2.4. However, there seem to be further limitations for finding the Distribution Centres: Apart from having a high population (I've only checked systems > 100m), it looks like the leading faction of the system has to be the one in famine state and there may not be wars or civil wars ongoing in the same system. In the latter two cases, I only found Conflict Zones, Checkpoints and the like.

I looked up this video because I needed Strange Wake Solutions and Eccentric Hyperspace Trajectories for Engineer Felicity Farseer for extended FSD range ( to be honest I never did a wake scan in my life ). I was able to get a wake scanner and the scans at Garay Terminal in the same system of Deciat only 2k Ls away. If I ever need a "How to" video for Elite Dangerous, Down to Earth Astronomy is always my first click

Go to an installation that gets attacked, ships escaping and leaving after the battle make a decent farm. Also, popular stations work if you only need a bit.

DWE can be also found at Encoded Signal Sources by scanning beacons

I find when doing this, the ships generally leave in 2 directions resulting in two clusters of high-wakes. You can usually get a spot within 4km of each cluster meaning you don't even have to fly, just rotate. Every now and then though, some hotrod will zip off on a random tangent and leave their wake about 8 to 12km away. You can ignore it if you wish, it wont impact your efficiency. I'd like to see: Cracked Industrial Firmware. Open Symmetric Keys Proto Heat Radiators And finally, Tempered Alloys. (I may have just used loads of these and not realised. But I remember only ever finding one) Should keep you busy for a while =D

Confused Raccoon Cracked firmware, quince scan missions and stack them. As you can see when you do them, a lot of data points stack on top of eachother, scan all of the and in no time, stacked in your wanted data(mine was specialised legacy firmware and that). The byproduct is money.

Been at this to the point I just gave up as I cannot even figure out how to activate the scan.. The whole game revolving around a TWO BUTTON system is highly confusing.. Are you in Combat mode when doing this, or analyze mode../ I put a Wake analyzer on.. put it in B [only thing in it] on 1.. doesn't seem to do anything.. I can target it.. Ill get back at it again after watching this video... but Iv been goofing with this on and off for days.. I see these wake things everyone I just ignore them mostly now as I cannot figure out how to scan them.. as I cannot bind it to a button... Like in a normal game.. I am having trouble with the whole targeting system actually.. Using a Thrustmaster t160000m hotas and every button seems like its backwards.. to where you have to try to rebind them all... Like FSD and Hyper Jump for example... Just fumbling with all the buttons as they all seem either backwards or on the wrong controller... Thanks for the video.. hope it helps...

Funny thing is that ships, that are leaving the distribution centre, are high waking. This is basically means they take the food and jump into another system, though famine is in their current system. So they like, stealing it? :D

My wake scanner won't engage. My discoveryscanner works fine but the wake won't. Im in range at a station and engage wake scanner deployed the hard point but the bar doesn't do anything. It does not extend across the blue line.. any ideas.. I've tried changing priorities so it had enough power but nothing will make it work.. please help

Yes, I just did it myself. Had to pass 3 systems until I found Distribution Center in one. Get closer to planets and it will appear in your scanner... Sometimes you have fly around a bit

*Phonetically.. ;P fä-minn would be more accurate or understandable for a Scandinavian target audience, if you're not gonna be using actual phonetics and just making your own. I think the idea was to simply ensure the excluding of the 'e' of famine seeing as the remaining letters' pronunciation is varied anyways.

When I filter by State - Famine they don't show on the galaxy map. If I find some famine systems in eddb.io and search for them individually then they do show up. After searching a few of these I found a Distribution Centre and was able to get the scans I wanted. Edit: Tried setting the 'Galaxy Map Quality' to HIGH and that shows some, but not all, famine systems using the filter.

I think all that's missing from this guide is a hint on which regions of the The Galaxy are likely to have systems in the famine state... as they're quite rare. I've tried using EDDB.io and Inara.cz, and they turn up nothing except for two systems that are locked behind permits.

Soo do you really need to go to famine ? There are so many wakes in Every System when you drop at the system beacon that people drop there to scan .Is there a way to mod a wake scanner with any type of engineer ? If you have a really good ship that can kill pirates ,you can help security kill pirates or wanted people near any beacon in any system and pick up some really rare items used for engineering . Higher population near beacon's maybe better ?

While this may still be technically possible, I don't think this can be done right now. As of this comment, there are only four systems listed as famine on EDDB, none of them are marked as famine in game, and I can't seem to find any on the in game map after 10 minutes of semi-thorough searching

you do scan the system with your advanced discovery scanner right? you can also try to move to some of the outer planets in the system, since you can only see them once you are within 1000 ls

Thx D2EA I found a 200Million plus population in an famine/anarchy system and I found distribution center right away. So I know what to look for now.Stayed up all night and got over 50 datamined wake thingies. I went to the abandoned site you did the video on for the chemical manipulators and I'll be watching your video tonight for the place to get the arsenic. I have a corvette, a 2nd anaconda, and a couple other ships I want to put grade 5 fsd range on. About how many rolls to get something acceptable on average?

ty good to know. I was quite disappointed with my fsd increased range on my corvette. went from 17.87 to 18.45LY??? I got a optimized mass over 50% and only got a 0.58LY increase. I have to not be understanding something because what is the point of spending over 40 hours collecting those mats for less then 1LY increase in jump range even with a maximum possible roll?

The Corvette is a massive ship. By that I don't mean size, I mean she's heavy. Reducing the weight will increase the range. My full combat build Corvette is sat at around 17 LY range. Which is good for how heavy it is. An Anaconda can get rediculous range on the same fsd because it's much lighter. My expolraconda is sat at over 60LY.

The guy who did the 300 FSD rolls suggested the same method, and it works, but drop rate for Datamined is absolutely dismal! In 2 hours of intense scanning, the "Datamined" variety dropped only 10 times. That's 30 pieces in 2 hours (you get 3 per drop), so for a hundred (to get a decent chance at an exceptional FSD, you'd be doing this for 6 hours, though 100 Arsenic might take even longer in the end) And I had to delete hundreds of the other wake scan types, as they kept filling up my 500 max data inventory.

Go to Famine system. Fly within 1000ls of planet with base. See if you see Dis centre. try again. It works.
