If you scan the big green beacon it will stop the mission countdown timer until you scan a new data point.

I landed at : 17 Virginis - 1E - Khayyam Base - 3 MEF one of the planets on the list from the forum. Landed 3.2 kms away outside the security zone. Jumped in my SRV and headed towards the base. I got the security warning as you said I would. I kept heading towards the base as you had mentioned there are no worries. It was at that time I saw a Python take off from the base. The Python turned red on my SRV screen radar. Thinking "that can't be good" I watched the Python with a heighten sense of alertness. Sure enough, the Python started attacking me in my SRV. I'm driving now like a mad man screaming a like a school girl. I get blasted a few times completely knocking out my SRV's shields. Down 47 % health on my SRV, I'm now racing back to my own Python, figuring I maybe able to stand a chance if I get back to my ship. Getting back to my ship feels like an eternity as I'm dodging as much as I can, getting blasted along the way. I get back to my Python and the enemy Python starts hitting my ship. I manage to get back in my ship, shields on my ship already down 2 rings. All I could do to blast outta there without getting my ass handed to me. I can say this base is defended by at least a single Python and yes, it will attack SRV's. So much for .... they won't attack and it's safe to go there.

Is this any good anymore. I downloaded the tool that was on that forum post...looks nice. Selected NO FIGHT option and first hop in the list there were like 10 sentry skimmers attacking my SUV. How do you know which sites are going to be like that?

Also make sure you have no hired pilot / helm in your ship when you recall. If your ship get shot at they can do stupid stuff like attacking the base or not land to pick you up

Very useful video! I was somewhat lost trying to find CIF anywhere, as the other methods I found must have previously been patched. As of 1/10/2018 this still works though :P ALSO that circular pattern/route you have set up also saved me a huge headache and I was able to travel to one very close to me to start off, even though I'm a bit away from start at the moment. A great place for Modified Embedded Firmware - Niflhel - Briuni Port - They do trade and scan missions for 3-5 MEF - You may need to allied with them.

Great job ! I have not tried scanning bases yet for Firmware involving scanning 4 to 5 data point towers. I have completed many Surface Scan Missions requiring only one data point tower to be scanned. I got may ass owed every time I scanned a Naval Base Thanks for all those Guardian Missions videos you released so far in 2018.

D2EA, I got a way better easier way, unlimited. Where? Quince! The scan missions stack the actual scan points, so just reselect them. I can supply a small video of me doing it in your discord if you want.

I find the small medium security bases much easier. You still get about .42 percent chance of MEF (42 percent I believe). Only 3 or 4 scans needed. No wall jumping or getting to high places. Just circle the perimeter. The S2M, S3M and S4M all give decent drops of MEF. Don't try the S1M though as they have restricted zones which will trigger alarms if you enter and you will certainly get a wanted status and be attacked before you complete all the scans.
