@5Pillars Dilly et al, please don't provide us with your views of Muslim family law. You appear not to have an understanding of modernity and are therefore peddling mediaeval Islamic Fiqh which is no longer relevant, either in terms of time or place. Islam's concern, as expressed perfectly in the Qur'an, is with instituting justice, not necessarily to maintain equity as you claim. The problem with traditional mediaeval Fiqh is that it is patriarchal, unjust and outdated. It leads to the turning out of women and children from the safety of the marital home onto the street and penury thereafter. English family law is not perfect, but it at least has mainly prevented this kind of abuse and so is closer in spirit to the Qur'anic prescription of justice. Many aspects of English law are consonant with Islamic law several having been derived from Islam in the first place, e.g. the assumption of innocence until proven guilty and the jury system, the latter having emanated from Maliki Fiqh (see: John Makdisi (1999) North Carolina Review, 77 (5): 1635-1739).

Enjoyed the podcast, was really refreshing! Just want to add re the discussion you had on Tabarruj. - a reason that sisters who engage in this is cos they may have observed men show a liking/ look at women who do engage in overly beautifying themselves openly. And women are weak and when they see this, they feel they need to do it too. Women and men both need to be stronger and more grounded to avoid this issue.

Brother Dilawar needs to differentiate that the environment and economic pressures in Agricultural work is different. Living in the same housing estate has no issues as long as you live in separate houses. There is a unity of family and this is good. We need to realise those who are born in Britain are in an urbanised, financially and economically different environment. Not to mention different culture. These have huge impacts on your outlook

I don’t think that the theory of Pashtuns having Jewish lineage is true, whilst I think there might be some people with strong affiliations, most don’t. I’m Pashtun and my 23andme dna test didn’t have any ties to Jews at all, didn’t even show up on the ancestral calculators either. Pashtuns are afghans originally and they came from central and east Asia

I'm pashtun and I think people with real family trees have real evidence backed up by ancient manuscripts family trees similarities in pashtunwali and DNA evidence. It's not Jewish as we ain't the tribe of Judah. It's very detailed and those who deny it don't understand it. It's not all afghans as not all afghans are pashtuns.

@rew Dr Asif made the claim and ive heard about there being some lost tribes of Israel which settled down somewhere in the Middle East, not sure how credible it is but pathaans to my knowledge and my dna evidence shows that there’s no solid links to that myth. Pathaans relocated to Pakistan from Afghanistan the same way the hazaara people did so wdym?

@@sarahm8464 Pathan or pashtun is a bloodline only the 18 major pashtun tribes have geneologies to Malik qais who is a direcr decendant of Malik talut. Not everyone who claims to be a Pathan is, this is not by language nor location it's a bloodline. The geneologies are well documented , there is also DNA evidence there is archeological evidence there is also striking similarities between pashtunwali and Jewish law , and even the names of pashtun tribes are similar to the names of Bani Israel.
