Operant Conditioning is introduced and explained. COntains great old footage of Skinner demonstrating shaping and explaining his principles of this kind of learning.

As a student of master's in psychology, this example is much more simpler and also much more humane.

people gamble because of a schedule of reinforcement... (not because they want to) We believe in free will because we know about our behavior but not its causes... (Jonathan Edwards)

N.B it isn't acting independently, its behavior is shaped by controlling its environment. Skinner did this by keeping individual pigeons about 3/4 of their normal weight so that the birds were always hungry, and food could be used as an automatic reward. Literally...

I Corinthians 2: 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. Romans 8: 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

"Behold, I tell you a mystery: we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed, suddenly, in a moment, at the time of the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall rise incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this corruptible will put on incorruption and this mortal will put on immortality, then the word that is written will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory! Death, where is your sting? Death, where is your victory? But the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!" (From: The Mystery of the Transformation of the Saints (1 Cor. 15:51-57)

@@wangiwang "that seems a bit off topic" I read "Beyond Freedom & Dignity" back in the 1970's when I was a kid and it horrified and disgusted me. Then a few years later when I became a Christian I understood why. BF Skinner was promoting a Doctrine of Demons, because he was an enemy of the human race. He represents the natural man and the carnal mind that rejects the Spirit and encourages men and women to think in a way that's lower than animals. And, as we see today, human beings are not only become subhuman, we're sub-animal as well.
