The problem is Black American's have endured way too much pain when it comes to drugs in this country and that's the reason why Charlamagne and DJ Envy are reacting so negatively. So why can’t people do it in a safe way? For one it would help people with addictions get there life back on track if they wanted to fix there life anyway. Again that’s there choice. Becuase they won’t have to spend a lot of money to get there fix. And if they want to get off then they can make a plan to get off at the place they are getting it at. Yet the rates of violent crime, homelessness, and poverty continue to steadily increase in this country. Geez, I wonder what could be the majority contributing issue to these. And, particularly in reference to this guy's message, drugs--specifically opiates, though also psychedelics and some psychotropics--have historically been looked to as a way to control the population and maintain the status quo. BUT instead of fleshing out the conversation in a more fruitful way they. (God-Envy) chose to dismantle and discourage the f****** message & Dr. Himself .. next time a topic appears to be soooo outside of their wheelhouse - producers please let Angela Take the Lead.. so that she and the listeners who Showed far more respect to this topic so crucial to the saving of enormous communities of suffering souls that they didn't just Shame or regurgitate cookie-cutter approaches like rehab obviously isn't working for the masses

I love this man. I’m really not doing well right now and people like Dr. Carl Hart make me feel so much better; mainly because of how cast out of regular society I’ve been. My family and others have seemed to vilify me and my use, and back me into a corner. I DO have a drug problem. But it’s a Jared problem, not drugs. With Dr. Hart’s info I’ve been able to identify the things in my life that need changing, this is a great man right here, y’all. This is as real as real gets.

I hope your situation has improved in the past year, Jared. You are absolutely right here. I've always hated how, when it comes to drugs, suddenly your health becomes everyone else's business, and people who know nothing about what you're going through and know nothing about your drug of choice, magically, all of these people know what is best for you. So many people are set in their ways and quick to judge another person because the government and media has brainwashed everyone into thinking that "Drugs are bad, mmmkay?" If drugs are so bad, let's be consistent, shut down all the liquor stores and Marijuana dispensaries, and take all the coffee and cigarettes off the shelves. And also remove anything that contains any added sugar from all our grocery stores. Anyway OP, feel free to check in and update, I hope your getting a hold on your struggles and have a network of people who will be supportive of you even when you're down.

I like him so far + their questions/ responses underscores the limited understanding of society as a whole on the subject matter he’s discussing. He’s the expert + I’m listening with open ears + without judgement.

It always amazing to me how little is spoken about gambling addiction in comparison to "drugs " when its addictive nature is known but yet is still glamourized and in most cases government supported .

I’m unsubscribing from this show and going to read Dr. Carl’s book. Angie Lee was the only host in this interview with sense. Both Envy and CTG displayed how immature and unprepared they were for this interview. This Black man is obviously very intelligent, well traveled and well studied. They dropped the ball with this Brother! This was embarrassing.

This is like an ADHD conversation with a well-respected scientist. Dr Hart had little opportunity to give a response to most of these questions. This conversation is a failure on the hosts to properly inform an important target audience.

They won't stay functioning for long and that's for damn sure. They'll either get clean or the drug use will increase to the point they cannot function. Using heroine recreationally for long periods of time is unheard of because the long term effects it has on your mental & physical health. And let's not get started on the withdrawal on heroine. A person can shoot up heroine on Monday and not do it for the rest of the week but the withdrawal will last until Friday and Saturday they're back to shooting up again.

I’m a big fan of the breakfast club, but this was a poor display of how to interview someone that may oppose to different ideology than yourself. They were very closed minded form the beginning and constantly cut him off on important points to ask questions that did not contradict his point in an educational manner but rather instead contradicted his point in a very ignorant manner
