I don't think there's an exact related cases, however there is a type of (serial) killer called the Angel of mercy/death. Those are caregivers, such as nurses, who kill people with their medical knowledge to either try to resurrect the patient afterwards to make them feel powerful, or they kill the patient in a similar power surge

@@chunkymilk5412 no you see sociopaths are not able to recognise an action they are doing is wrong, which is exactly what differentiates them from psychopaths. A psychopath knows that killing is 'wrong' but will still do it if they have enough reasoning for it, however for a sociopath the distinction isn't made from the first place. Not only are sociopaths more likely to commit murder, they are also more easily distinguished as their brain structure does not allow them to properly integrate social values and the like.

Psychopaths aren’t necessarily dangerous, they just don’t care about anything like someone getting hurt or even killed since they can’t feel anything. That DOES increase the chance of them doing something bad since they probably won’t show any regret.
@wschippr15 жыл бұрын
Limbo Cat I think you are conflating psychopathy with antisocial personality disorder. While yes, they are not necessarily dangerous, meanness and violence are a key component to psychopathy in addition to antisocial tendencies. Antisocial is where someone just doesn't care. Hell, even in nursing, empathy is something that's needed in controlled doses. Too much and nurses can get their judgement clouded and break professional boundaries. If you succeed, always remember this: your patient is still a human being, no matter how broken their mind is, or how terrible they are in their behaviours ... but be mindful of the ones whom can be treated ... and those whom should never leave the confines of a Secure Psychiatric Hospital ... On other thing: be mindful of your own mental health. It's not unheard of for psychiatrists to see other psychiatrists, as patients, as the emotional, and psychological toll can be immense, dealing with troubled minds, all the time. You're only as useful to your patients when you are of as healthy mind as possible ... Take care, and I wish you the best.

@@nigelft Usually yes...but there are some cases I've wondered this. If a human being doesn't have ANY humanity left - compassion, empathy, moral, caring, patience... - is it still a human being, really? If the person doesn't have the traits that differ us from other animals (actually, I'd rather save an animal than a murderous psychopath who enjoys killing others) and the capacity that makes us humans, is it a real human anymore? Or just a shell full of evil that's only looking like one? Is there a line? What is a definition human, after all - is it only biological/ about anatomy? @andrewc6778 Жыл бұрын
Actually, low/lack of empathy or compassion isn’t necessarily unheard of or even a terrible thing for a doctor/health professional. Also, lack of empathy doesn’t always indicate psychopathy- the lack of empathy isn’t necessarily the bad part, it’s psychopaths’ motivation and drive to act out against others. For instance, autism can also be associated with a lack of empathy, but people with autism and a lack of empathy could still be great doctors, say if they had a special interest in medicine. The closest positive media representation of this sort of thing that I can think of is Dr. House, although to some degree I think you can argue he only pretends not to care. The lack of empathy or compassion does not necessarily indicate malintent or malevolence. Just as there are people with empathy and compassion that are still motivated to do horrible and cruel things, people without empathy and compassion can still be motivated to do good and kind things.

Generally, both sociopath and psychopath are used to describe people with ASPD. They don't differ that much, the symptoms are very similar. A sociopath is often described as someone who doesn't do serious harm, but mostly practices mind-games and such, while a psychopath does more long-term damage.
@GreyDoofus888 ай бұрын
In the case of Dean Reybold, the death of one of Camille's students Hannah Cates, whom Hank promised to look after. Yes there were other factors that came into play, such has Hannah's choice to be with Mike Sheffield and his gang, after Hank pretty much abandoned her following the death of his son. But if Reybold hadn't overdosed Camille with chemo, perhaps Hannah would've had a much more promising future ahead of her. I know Chicago PD is just a TV show and it's the writers that call the shots not the audience, but I think it serves as an example of what you said about a psychopath's ability to cause long term damage. Even after they've been made to answer for their misdeeds, it's never enough whether they are behind bars for the rest of their days or six feet under.

Reply with who you like the most I like Dr. Charles mainly because I'm a retired phycologist/phycologist assistant. And I worked at a insane asylum. Some people that have been driven insane are like that because they have a bad childhood and so on

If you were a psychologist you'd know how to spell it and you'd know that mental health wards haven't been called insane asylums in years

Profiling is interesting to watch where as this episode gives us a reality check with doctors...i personally knew a doctor who is a narcisst..i think they chose this profession particularly so they came across weak...it's pure psycho trait

I have just started watching Chicago Med and KZbin videos have made me realise that apparently, Med, P.D & Fire crossover. Could anymore guide as to how to watch all these three simultaneously so that I don't miss the conclusions of storylines. I was curious as to why the OD-on-chemo-drug storyline was cut short in Med but now it seems it's concluded in P.D. Does this happen alot in these three shows nd if yes then could anyone please tell which I should watch first and how to cover others simultaneously.

So here is what I understood from all this: Dude was playing fake Jesus all this time? Re-watched it again and believe me, the psychopath could become a cult leader.

The thing about psychopaths... they love Huey Lewis and the News.

The way he quickly changed subjects from patients that died to talking about his watch really shows his lack of empathy. No normal person just flips conversations like that. Daniel got him good
