Totally awesome explanation of what an article critique should include! After paying 1700$ for my current class in my BSN, I have been lead on a wild goose chase for understanding the what and why behind an article critique. Thank you for this video. I wish I would have found this over 4 weeks ago. As my BSN classes are shrunk to 5 weeks instead of 16.

When critiquing an article, I'm using an evidence, so can i mention the reference of my evidence in my article critique paper or not?

You should always site the source of information in a paper, including the original article of a critique and any other sources of information. If you are using other sources of information as evidence to supplement your statements, I believe that is a very effective approach to support the statements you make in the critique.

Hello Marwa. Your answer depends on the assignment instructions and other factors. If the goal is to critique one paper, then other literature may not be needed. If you are comparing to other literature, then more recent articles can be used to provide updated information. Other articles may be used to compare and contrast information.

Hello saumiya nair...I believe you are asking me "how do I explain elements of research, like methodology or data collection, into a 1500 word essay?". Is your challenge trying to summarize a significant amount of information (20,000 words) into a brief summary (1500 words)? If so, that takes practice and individual help if you can get it. There are many techniques, but the best advice I can think of in this short message is...when writing scholarly / scientific documents, be very direct. For example, imagine I originally write in about 32 words "A quantitative study was conducted on approximately 250 male and female participants who's ages varied from 18-45, were located from several different industries, and had worked in their professions for many years". I could write a similar sentence in about 14 words by writing "A quantitative study investigated a diverse sample (N = 250) based on age, industry, and experience". This is less than half as many words. I wish you the best.

I need more information to better help you. This may help...if the authors of an article conducted research, you should be able to find your answers in a "Methods" or "Methodology" section. The information may be vague, but the description should be there. For example, the authors may not state directly the study was a correlational design (quantitative), but they might instead describe how data was collected in a self-report survey and in the results section discuss the results of a Pearson correlation analysis.
