Children are eating as their parents or worse - it is not genetic but result of eating processed food which include mostly sugar and processed "vegetable = seeds" oils. Watch other video about real reason of macula illness. It is not an aging illness; In the regions where people don't have access to such oils they live longer and having much less macula problems.

Thank you for this wonderful explanation of age related macular degeneration. I have never really understood what happens. I do not eat fish, so I will try to do so. I was shocked to find out I have AMD because I eat large quantities of green, leafy vegetables and consume lots of eggs, which are a rich source of lutein. I also stopped eating vegetable oils years ago and went back to butter. I will now eat spinach more often to see if that helps. I don't eat a cup a day of spinach. I am sure future studies will confirm that sugar plays a role. I ate too much sugar most of my life and have blood sugar problems. (I have stopped my high sugar consumption.) I suspect that is what is playing a major role in me developing AMD. I also did not protect my eyes from sunlight as well as I should have. I don't think I owned a pair of sunglasses as a child. I think my family likely looked at them as an unnecessary luxury for a child. I only bought them in my teens and less for protection and more as a fashion statement.

Not so sure about sugar. Chris Nobbe uses a culture with high sugar low oils as an example to show its the oils. One thing is we see how what animals eat affects their fats too, so I’m not so sure we can say eggs or dairy for instance and be talking the same things. Even so called free range or organic is no guarantee.

Would have liked to hear about eye floaters.
@Jan961066 жыл бұрын
What do you want to know about them? The fluid in your vitreous clumps together as you get older. Those kind of floaters look like spider webs or amoeba. The only way you can get rid of most of them is by a vitrectomy (where they take out the fluid in your eye and replace it) , which I'd never have for such a trivial reason as it comes with risks. Another kind of floater one can have is due to leaky blood vessels or after eye surgery; those are black specs and they disappear as they are broken down and flushed out through the fluid circulating in the eye. I know because I've had both. I'm just a patient not a doctor. Hope this info helps.

I had pretty bad eye floaters when I turned 60 mostly from stress and gaining weight. When I went keto they cleared mostly. 5 years later I can only see them when I look straight into the sky or at a white surface. What seems to help is anything that improves your blood circulation such as onion, garlic and many other foods.

Incompetent ophthalmologists from Monash hospital eye clinic in Melbourne shall listen to this and learn. This is because they do not issue rating recommendations to clients, they do not recommend AREDS supplements and the only thing they are capable doing is watching how AMD goes from dry to wet

The omega-3 fatty acids (i mean the actually effective two - DHA and EPA) can be obtained from rather expensive vegan algae-based DHA supplements. The rest of the healthy stuff that is in fish? Not likely.

It also helps to improve your ALnA:LA ratio. Basically, get rid of all extracted oils. Either use none at all, or stick to olive, high-oleic sunflower, H.O. safflower, coconut, palm, or macadamia oils. Nuts and seeds (and their butters) are fine, but 30 grams a day is plenty. It's good to rotate them, too. Whole food fermented soy is fine too, but one or two servings is plenty for the health benefits. No need to go _nuts_ over it! Just simple, basic, commonsense rules-of-thumb.
@Nmethyltransferase6 жыл бұрын
Wait, wait... there's more! Sea{flesh}food also comes pre-packaged with certain minerals: zinc, selenium, and iodine. In combination with EPA/DHA, they're basically rocket fuel for the brain! Just take a zinc supplement, eat two Brazil nuts a day, and have a serving of seaweed daily. Or... look into "bivalveanism." 100-gram servings of oysters, mussels, and clams, three times a week--and most likely, you'll have no need for _any_ supplements!

Low carb?
@Jan961066 жыл бұрын
He said that a number of studies show that there is a high correlation between eating a lot of high glycemic foods (foods that quickly raise blood sugar) and an increased risk of AMD. However, he undercut or called those studies into question by suggesting that the results were tainted because low glycemic index foods are big money for the food industry. I think he is wrong to question the results of these studies. My own anecdotal evidence leads me to believe that in a few more years studies will confirm that sugar/carbs play a major role in causing AMD. (Read my other comment under this video to see why I believe this.) It is only a matter of time before the medical community catches up and acknowledges this.
