This was one of the best interviews I've seen in ages! I became severely hypoglycemic 6 years ago and for years suspected my liver was the issue, not my pancreas, and Doug mentions that!

loved the part about the 3 day challenge to our incredible imagination of the recent food failure we may have experienced...we've got to recognize it and 'gut it out' as doc L states to get on past that detour and continue building the much better memories of healthy food and life style. nice.

A fascinating explanation at about 19:30 of how people often perceive the plant based vegan diet as "doing something fancy that requires conscientiousness and intelligence, and that it's a demonstration of superiority". We don't have to set up ourselves as experts and face confrontations at meal times. Instead play down our knowledge and pick our times for discussion. I think in the end the most persuasive argument is our own improved health and vitality. Other people see that and want it for themselves.

Dr. Doug Lisle is the best. Everybody should also check out his weekly Podcast "Beat Your Genes" with NateG on www.blogtalkradio.com/beatyourgenes as well as his Internet Page: esteemdynamics.org/. Such amazing and important information nowhere else to be found and wonderfully presented as only Doug Lisle does. I just love that man :-)

I have mcdougall's personality which is why i apretiate dr. Lisle so.much more. Now I at least understand the other side, so I try my best to be gentle as much as I can when it comes to eating issues other people have (success with those approaches is another issue. I find people follow me quite a lot even if i am a bitch sometimes, in the long run everybody starts asking for advice. So that is why i think our response should also reflect who we are genuinly. Because if I say i dont know where i get my protein everybody will know i am lying since people who know me know that i study stuff all the time. Maybe this approach is suitable for somebody at the beginning who has low selfasteem or who has been on many diets before and is still fat and has issues and not for somebody who is clearly successful at what he does🤓)....well, at least that is how i feel.... But it is sure good to know different styles of handling with people in order to help as many as you can...

Love your help! People remind me of all the fad diets I've been on or what happened to that other diet. I'll adopt your answer.

I don't follow this type of diet because I think it's too much effort to give up oils and salt (I did try it). I'm vegan and eat relatively low oil but I do like my salt and I am still losing weight because I keep strict control of my portions. I do not go hungry and I'm losing weight at about 1lb/week rate. I can have my fruit/nut bar once a day (small 150 cal portion) and I can have addition of oils to food, provided my whole meal is around 400 cals. I feel more satiated on this diet than on a bland diet and I can still eat out, buy ready made meals in supermarkets, etc. I think having that one sweet bar a day is easier than giving them up completely and then having to look at them everywhere I go. That's torture:-)
