For everyone concerned, a quick look at Caroline’s Instagram will show she’s been social distancing/staying at home for quite some time. I don’t know when this was filmed but feel confident saying it was before current the guidelines were in place and circumstances worsened.

Dr Emma is my dermatologist and she is amazing. I’m a black woman and finding a good dermatologist who understands scarring is hard. , She has helped me massively . I recommend spending the money to see someone like Emma and spending less on throwing everything at your skin to see what works. You end up spending the same, but at least you know it’s someone who understands your skin!

I went to a seminar with a dermatologist (I work in healthcare) and he really drove home the point that people are going way too lightly with topical steroids and not actually treating the problem. So don't be scared of topical steroids if you really have a condition that will benefit from it, if you use enough early on it will help treat the problem quicker :)

Hi from Tennessee!!! I have experienced exactly what is discussed about the skin dysphoric idea (not what they called it???). I’m 42. Suffered from varying kinds of acne from puberty through my 30s. I STILL see all the marks on my face even though I know they’re not there. I have to say to myself-are they really there? It’s so hard to change our mental image of what we look like to ourselves. I’m thankful to have friends that set me straight! Thank you SO much for shedding light on this for people and encouraging us.

What a lovely lady - you two made such a great team - thank you for this video and can't wait for the next. Would you consider a segment on sensitive eczema-prone skin and what actives would be safe/worth trying? I recently, at the age of 54 dipped my toe into some vit c - the Drunk Elephant one - and using the buffer approach e.g. moisturise b4 vit c and moisture after, and so far, I'm doing OK without any nasty reaction. Would love to try retinol but terrified of reactions etc so haven't dared. The cost at Dr Sam's clinic is pretty high so, alas, don't think I could afford to see Dr Emma at this point. General advice for people like me with sensitive skins would be so welcome! Thanks both :)

I have loads of questions from conflicting professional opinions also, but the following BY FAR is this one: I’m 47 and just began a skincare routine 5 years ago. I’ve never had a pimple, let alone a breakout. It’s all genetics. I smoked up until a few years ago, washed my face in the shower with shower gel, and didn’t wear sunscreen- although I did try to avoid the sun because it would make me sick. If retin A is the best of the best for anti-aging, and everything else, why are there so many serums, etc. A prescription of Tretinoin in the States is less expensive than most highly recommended serums. Why at night would I not just cleanse, give it about 30 minutes than whack on Tret for the rest of my life? In the morning I can goof around with HA, vit C, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
@catnip45874 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly my routine double cleanse at night and put on prescription retinol. Save the other serums and sunscreen for am. For me it works great

Thanks to much for the info of eczema!! I've been suffering from it for ages - especially around the eyes. I got topical steroids from my GP, but soo many people have warned me to use it for a longer period of time. So I've been using it during flare ups (they're killing me: itching, pain, burning and subsequently swelling of my eyelids because of the rubbing = vicious circle)...´And yes, I know you shouldn't use those steroids around the eyes, but I'm very careful not to actually get it INTO my eyes and haven't had a problem with it so far. so THANK YOU THANK YOU for your advice, I feel much more confident using my cream now. :)

MSUSPARTANS 1995 you may not react to vitamine A. Caroline adressed this in her retinol series and a couple of times since. I would use a lot of light layering products instead of one heavy moisturizer. Look for words in the ingredient list like hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, aloe- and make sure they’re high up on the list. So wash with your cleanser. While the face is still damp, use a hydrating “spritz.” There are lots of them at all price ranges. I like one by Dermalogica called “Anti-Oxidant Hydramist.” Next go in with a hydrating serum. The Ordinary has one called, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. It’s like $6. I think it has 3 molecular sizes so it can penetrate different layers of the skin. You could also use a hyaluronic acid by a brand called NIOD. It’s called, “multi molecular hyaluronic complex,” or “MMHC” for short. It’s pricey, because it has 12 or 15 different molecular weights to really hydrate the layers of the skin, but it’s on sale online at THE SKINSTORE at least 10 times a year for 25-30% off. The Dermalogica mist is also on sale a lot. You can also use Hada Labo gokujyun hydrating lotion. It’s a Japanese brand. They called these liquid hydrating serums “lotions.” If you’re in the States, it’s a white bottle with black Japanese writing and some blue water-looking drops on the bottle. Google it. You can buy it online lots of places. It’s cheap and effective. After using spritzers and hydrating serums, then use a moisturizer to seal it in. I’d also suggest something called the “7-skin method.” If you don’t know what that is, go on KZbin and in the search bar type in “Gothamista- 7- Skin Method.” She explains it perfectly! The best hydrating toner or essence to use for this method that’s not too light and not too sticky is either May Coop Raw Sauce, which you can get at YESSTYLE or “Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner.” You can also use these instead of the others I suggested up above. They don’t only have to be used with this method. I PROMISE you, after the 7-skin method your skin will be hydrated all day. Sometimes you’ll only need to do “3 skins.” Watch the video. This will all make sense! Good Luck, and let me know if you need more help!!

Hi all, I’d really appreciate some skin help please! I’m 21 and have relatively clear skin with a few spots here and there. But after a sudden development allergies to lots of types of food after a period of extremely stressful university exams (e.g. most fruit, some veg) my skin has kind of freaked out and has not been the same for about a year. I have a red circular patch of skin on one cheek the size of £2 that is red flaky and has always got tiny spots that never come to a head and just seem like irritated lumps. I have no clue what to do- do I use spot treatments on the spots to treat the spots, leave my skin alone, use an oil to treat the irritated skin or a thick cream to nourish? Any help much much appreciated as I’m sure if your watching these vids you know what your talking about xo

More treatments are accessible to people at a reasonable price. People are also more educated now as to what is available...in the past there was a heavy reliance on people who worked in the industry. I don’t know about clean beauty which sounds like a term that originate in protestant ‘clean is godly’ ideas. However, I care about organic beauty that is made with substances that neither harm myself nor the environment when I use them. So is silicone harmful for myself? Probably not. Do I want to swim in silicone soup or water? Do I want to drink and eat silicone? Probably not. Same with mineral oil. In short I want my cosmetics to be biodegradable. I’m all for science. Dismissing whacky ideas like washing your hair with baking soda or using undiluted essential oils is all well and good as long as it does not justify polluting the environment.

Whoa, I’d never expect, of all people, Caroline holding the isotretinoin flag. Just fyi, not 1984: 2004 had the treatment, still have anxiety and depression to this day. My acne came back after 2 years. Most doctors don’t prescribe it safely. They don’t take the time and care to follow up. Most people don’t connect the dots and never report the side effects (mental health and dermatology?) Most derms shrug off if you complain about any mental health issues. Or reply, as you’ve done, saying “you won’t be depressed once you get good skin”. Depression is far deeper than dealing with acne. How can the compilation of data be accurate?

Wow, aren’t you guys social distancing? It’s so weird to see a video with more than one person in it. Maybe this was filmed way earlier in the year. :(

surfnyolly and if they are distancing and this was filmed some time ago its totally irresponsible not to state this in the description

People really need to use their common sense. Caroline has been doing her live videos from her house so I think it’s pretty obvious this was filmed a while ago it shouldn’t have to be stated in the video.

It was filmed weeks ago. Seriously. As if it needs to be said?

If filmed before social distancing it is important to put in place a notice on the video to say

Seriously? Do you think Caroline Hirons would take such a risk? Or Dr. Emma? Don't be daft; of course this was filmed earlier.

I really don’t think it’s necessary to state the bleeding obvious. I literally haven’t been out of the house for weeks. One look at my Instagram would show you that.
