Ever since I discovered Dr Gavin Ashenden in the internet I have watched his videos and found him brilliant and interesting. I was very happily surprised when he entered the Church. And then, on second thought, I was not surprised at all. With a great intellect and heart like his it was just a matter of time before he recognized the Truth and follow Our Lord. He is like St Thomas More. Heroic in faith and courage.

@A Friend Ashenden is much praised for his courage in leaving the C of E. however he made much in his testimony about finding Jesus as his saviour only turn away to become a Mary worshipper. That is not courage . It is like a man that once being rescued from getting lost in the fog, turns around and walks straight back into it for a second time. That is not courage it is stupidity.

I will pray for you both and hope to have the pleasure of meeting some day. As you will discover the Catholic circle is small. You have my full support in all you do. P.s I'd love to see you become a Catholic priest. Your exactly what we need, but I will pray only that the will of Almighty God be done for you in your life. Perhaps He can use you as a lay person better, only God knows, but my will would say "hurry up and hear my confessions"! Lol!!! "Fiat Voluntas Tua" from Northern Ireland.

There can be no doubt that the Church of England has lost its sight and focus on Biblical teaching. The Apostle's creed sums up the very essence of the teachings of Jesus Christ, but the Anglican church of the 21st century has chosen the easy path of appeasement, to pander to the secular values of modern society, of hedonism and woke culture.

I think the English have greatly underestimated the reach of 'English Catholicism' apart from Anglican Papalism or any variant. Through the post-War Commonwealth, the English-speaking world experienced a sense of globalism, and when the Mass in vernacular introduced English Masses as the other prominent 'universal' language through which many share. But English Catholicism is best preserved in the sacramentary, the approved Missals and Catholic Bible translations, even if there are national bishops' conferences approving their own text. So I grew up in the Roman Rite as a very English sort of Catholic, and had in so many ways looked to Westminster for formation, when CTS was a great source of material, before the Internet and the growth of American Catholic publishers like St Paul's or Ascension Press. I think the English are slightly unaware how English-speaking Catholics in the Commonwealth have also benefited from their spirituality, their ecclesial history and patrimony.

Roman Catholicism can be traced back to Jesus Christ. Anglicanism can be traced back to Henry VIII in the 16th century when he did not get his way and appointed himself head of CoE. So where is the heresy ?

Why do I sense that there is a sense of gloating in this man becoming a Roman Catholic. Is Christ not at home with all Christians, people of different faiths and non?
@marcokite3 жыл бұрын
because you are being cynical and sceptical. the last thing Dr A could be described as would be a gloater. Christ founded the Catholic Church 2,000 years ago (then of course it was simpy THE Church). if He was as indifferent as you suggest then He would not have bothered to found His Church and the Apostles to die for it.
