In order to assist me with my weight and diabetes, my friend told me about this 4DiabetesFreeForLife.blogspot.com . I had been adhering to a rigorous fitness and diet program. My blood glucose level was 35 points less after a day of diet and has become 60 points less as I reached day 4. That worked very well, however, and I felt fine. I’m so pleased that my blood sugar is now at its normal level.

Carlos Ramirez he’s not going against all the medical process. He is using data from the 1970’s and 1980’s. His theory is watch the medical profession was saying 30 years ago and is very outdated. Medical research has progressed from these ancient thoughts and now has a much better understanding of what is going on. You really shouldn’t be listening to someone who hasn’t advanced with research. The modern data showed that diabetes 2, obesity, insulin resistance is due to your microbiome. There is a ton of modern data that you should be listening to and not this sad attempt to mislead the people who don’t yet know what’s what. Of course he makes sense because he has picked and chose data that would support his reasoning. Unfortunate for him that he had to use crappy studies from as far back as the 1970’s and maybe even older than that. Sad, how he is exploiting those who don’t know anything about this subject.

Among the wide array of physicians who speak about low carb, Dr. Jason Fung stands apart as the physician who speaks about insulin resistance in the most articulate and comprehensible fashion. He is a master when it comes to describing the etiology of insulin resistance, so much so that I wish that his lectures were a requirement for everyone to watch - whether physician or layperson. Given how pervasive insulin resistance is in much of the population, such an important talk should be shown to everyone. Hell, if I had a chance to reformulate the global high school curriculum, I would make the viewing of Jason Fung's presentations on insulin resistance a requirement to be eligible for graduation. Knowing the causes of insulin resistance, and how to address it should be as ubiquitous as knowing how to do arithmetic and read. It is that important.

Poison in the food likely a serious factor to need to clean out the liver....It first showed up and nearly killed me eating Cheetos for a month....when they had a big sale or large bags one week I bought a months worth and ate them every day and went up to over 150 lbs from about 120.....So, I eat 90% of everything else organic and healthy....maybe some french bread...I buy the best quality of most things....It's the freaking eating often and something in cheetos...the salt and probably there's some aluminum or something toxic that they spray on the Cheetos....Similar thing happened from cheese sprayed on popcorn and it didn't matter too much which brand.......It's very delicious but....obesity follows and constipation is brutal.

You are correct that this is vital information for all humans. However... let's follow the money. If even 30% more of the population both accepted this information, and changed diets, in response, then many companies within the food industry would lose a lot of money. This is possibly why this message is not spread on main stream media. I believe companies will block this message until they can find a way to profit from people following this advice. And that is unlikely because there isn't much margin on real food compared to processed food.
@alphacause
@alphacause 5 жыл бұрын
@@cr2lives I totally agree. People adopting a low carb diet would cause these companies to lose a lot of money because it would hit their most profitable products - refined products containing high carbs. However, Dr. Jason Fung's main message about emphasizing fasting would totally decimate these industries, since most refined products are consumed as snack items. Could you imagine if 30 percent of the population switched to a 2 meal a day or OMAD strategy of eating? It would make the profit losses of just switching to low carb foods look like a pittance.

I've had Type 2 Diabetes for over 20 years. Have been on Lantus and Humulin R insulins for about 5 years. Starting with dosages of 35/12 units daily of each respectively. From August 3017 to February 2018 I was hospitalized with a severe heel ulcer. When I was discharged I weighed 360 lbs. A few months later I began eating a Keto diet and started to incorporate IF a few months later. Up until March 2019 I had lost 70 lbs. But not much noticeable body fat it seemed. Then I hit a plateau where I wasn't losing much weight even though my Endo had lowered my insulin dosages to 32/10. So after watching a number of your videos on Insulin Resistance I decided to quit taking all of my insulin on May 1st. (Still took Metformin though). I felt great! Lots of energy, great sleep, and in the next 30 days I lost 17 lbs & 2 " off my waist. The only problem was that while on Insulin my blood sugar levels were regularly in the 4.2 - 5.2 mmol/L range; and while I was off insulin they were in the 5.8 - 6.5 mmol/L range. So this got me frustrated after reading how so many others had quit their insulin and had b.s levels of 4.3 - 5.3. So I thought if I only took my meal time insulin (Humulin R) it would help lower my glucose levels after eating (Was on OMAD 3 - 4 days per week), and still give me 16 hours insulin free for fat burning. Win Win. But that day after the Humulin R wore off My blood sugar levels kept rising and I became very light headed, dizzy, nauseated, and ended up in emergency with a mild case of Diabetic Ketoacidosis. My glucose level was 8.2 and my Beta Hydroxybuterate level was 3.1 mmol/L. So since then I've been back on both insulins; but my Endo has reduced my dosages to 28/8. I've asked if I could just take the Humulin R, and he said one step at a time. I had gained 9 lbs the first 4 days back on both insulins; but have since lost 8 lbs. My B.S levels have been steady at 4.1 - 5.1 mmol/L since so I'm hoping I'm on the right track; and that it won't be long before I can lower my insulin dosages even more. Question though - Since Lantus is a 24 hour long lasting insulin does that stop any benefits I get (Especially fat burning) from doing IF & OMAD? I am also taking 600 mg of Benfotiamine & Alpha Lipoic Acid daily, along with 1000 mg of Acetyl l-carnitine for my diabetic peripheral neuropathy. 1 Gram of Berberine, 500 mg of Magnesium, 5000 mcg of Vitamin B12 methylcobalamin, 100 mcg of Vitamin K2 - Mk7 + 4000 I.U. Vitamin D3, 800 mcg Chromium Picolinate, and 60 mg of P-5-P. Hope this all helps. May add Lions Mane to help with the nerve damage repairs.

@ryanjacob3701
@ryanjacob3701 5 жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge, yes, using a long-acting insulin formula gives your body continuous levels of insulin elevation. As insulin rises, ketosis and fat-mobilization are impeded, as insulin drives energy into storage and away from the "engine" so to speak. If it doesn't shut down fat burning completely, it sure makes it a heck of a lot harder. Most experts, Fung included, are quick to point out that as you employ insulin-lowering techniques like Keto, low-carb, and IF/OMAD you MUST compensate with reductions of insulin and careful monitoring so as not to put yourself into a hypoglycemic state. Unless your Pancreas is severely damaged and cannot begin to manage proper insulin production, the goal should be to discontinue insulin altogether and allow the body to get back to regulating its own b/s levels. By the sound of where you were at, you're closer than you think. Coming down in small steps would be ideal given how long you've been diabetic, and the longer you can stretch this process, likely the less hazard it may have on you. Once you've gotten the excess fat stores out of your liver [fatty liver] and pancreas [fatty pancreas] your body should be well on its way to handling b/s and insulin levels on its own better than you currently do, but take it slow and keep pushing in the direction you're headed.

This does describe how I ate growing up and we were never overweight at all. Lean and strong, without having to go to a gym for an hour. Just healthy. The Keto eating plan is very confusing. They say Very High Fats, medium Protein, and very Low carbs, but absolutely No Fruit, even cucumbers they day are too high in carbs! Yet they always post Desserts made with Fake Sugar and tons of cream cheese too. Cutting out fresh fruit in place of fake sugar, to satisfy a sweet treat is ridiculous to me. I want my fresh fruit!! Keto has been a frustration, but it it working for many people. I tried the "Celery" detox last summer, juicing a bunch of celery every morning, throwing out all the fiber, and it didn't help me at all. I didn't lose a pound or fell better. God gave us perfect fruit and vegetables with everything we need and we go and screw things gs up.

i got rid of diabetes type 2 with a ketogenic diet. sadly my metabolism is also a little bit low and my weight loss slowed down to zero half the way. but now i do meals with >95% of calories from fat and one meal with about 85% of calories from fat and the rest protein and very little carbs. the super high fat meals boost my metabolism and it does not rise insulin. so it practically does not count as a meal. the benefit is, that my metabolism on the long term gets faster because it supports mitochondrial growth. and with more mitochondria the carb tolerance also goes up again a little bit. so that pure fat fasting meals that i do now is the next step after being on keto. at the end the only thing that matters is the insulin vs. glucagon balance. i keep the insulin as low as possible and glucagon as high as possible. if i eat a "normal" keto meal i try to get in natural fiber like in unprocessed low carb veggies. that does a good job regarding GIP/GLP-1 balance and the result is again a low insulin response. regarding that is makes a difference if you have creme spinach or whole spinach. the processed one (even if you make it a creame spinach at home with your blender rises insulin higer. there is a nice talk between gabor erdosi and ivor cummings on youtube that will explain that. a sample fat fasting meal: spinach (fresh or frozen but not processed!), garlic, some grained broth and lardo cut in to small piececs (the white fat only from the bacon), fried in the pan. the result regarding macros is about 95% fat and the rest traces of carbs and protein. ==> almost no insulin response, maximum fat burning effect, suppression of hunger because of the saturated fat and the volume/fiber from the spinach. and one meal of the day should include some protein, but not too much. in very deep ketosis the body does not need that much protein.

If you are not too diabetic I think you will have better life quality on an intermittent fasting diet. Avoid these seed-oils, transfer, fructose and beer, reduce flower and sugar (as compared to SAD) and use a 4 hour eating window, and you will get a more comfortable diet to follow, long term. Fokus on whole foods and delicious foods, eat fish, eggs, meats, bacon, salads, egg pasta and more or less whatever you want, but try to restrict little bit on bread and maybe also restrict little bit on potatoes. Smart to eat lots of proteins, since it will make it easier to hold your fast, and also because of the inherent Protein leverage in humans. Best of luck.

At 17:59 it says 'fattening carbohydrates" increase insulin resistance and leads to obesity. but, carbohydrates are actually low fat, even the refined ones, unless you add fat like oils, butter, etc. white sugar is virtually fat free as is white flour. so, i'm a bit confused about what he's referring to.

Food fat does not equal body fat. You don't have to eat "fat" to become "fat". Eating carbs generates insulin, insulin drives glucose (carb-derived) into storage as fat. Hence, carbs are "fatty" meaning they make you fat. He may not have used the greatest short-hand wording, but the video lays it out pretty clear.

Dr Fung, how do we explain individual differences between people? i.e. some of us are labeled as insulin sensitive and others are considered insulin insensitive based on how our blood sugar reacts to a sugary meal. For instance my father will have a blood sugar bottom and gets shaky, mentally cloudy, cannot walk 30 minutes after eating pancakes with syrup, or toast with jam. If he eats eggs and bacon with black coffee, no hypoglycemic symptoms. I call him insulin sensitive.

Dr Fung would you say that fiber slows the uptake or absorption of fructose, glucose reducing insulin via a time factor? Would eating the fatty part of a meal or fiber part of a meal first THEN eat the carbs, slowing down the effect of carbs on insulin, improve the glycemic index of the meal as a whole?
@samfisher8885
@samfisher8885 5 жыл бұрын
No, in the case of fiber it would have to be locked with the glucose/fructose that comes with it to slow the absorption. If you eat broccoli and then drink orange juice then the glucose/fructose from the juice is still going to be absorbed super fast.

There is a large group of diabetic patients that has been largely ignored by the Medical Community and are treated just like all the other diabetics and told to just eat less and exercise more even though they are the victims of "drug-induced" diabetes who don't have the luxury to just stop taking their meds because they have chronic conditions. I am referring to people with severe mental illnesses like Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder and Bipolar Disorder who have to take drugs like Mood Stabilizers and Antipsychotics which are notorious for causing the dreaded "Metabolic Syndrome" which is the precursor to diabetes. Psychiatrists seem to think that getting diabetes is an acceptable trade-off to be mentally "stable" and think that dieting and exercising is enough to counteract the effects of the drugs. The reality is that no matter how much you diet and exercise, the patient will never be able to lose enough weight to avoid becoming diabetic since they can't just stop taking the offending drug because they will end up having a relapse and end up in the hospital. There in lies the question: What are those patients supposed to do to treat their diabetes effectively? It's no wonder then why studies have shown that the life expectancy of severely mentally ill people is between 15-20 percent less than the general population. Ironically, it's their drug-induced medical problems rather than their mental illness that ends up killing them!

Its not true that we need fibre, what is true is that we need whole foods (and they generally contain fibre, but the point is not the fibre but the intact cell-structure). He should focus more on GIP, that drives the insulin 5 times more that blood sugar. In my opinion intermittent fasting is necessary since its too difficult to eat with low insulin enough secretion, but intermittent fasting is not necessary when your diabetes is gone (confirmed with a Kraft-test). Good luck, boys and girls.

@elanamccullum1677 5 жыл бұрын
What is GIP?
@bjorn2fly
@bjorn2fly 5 жыл бұрын
@@elanamccullum1677 GIP is a hormone secreted by cells in your upper intestines, this part of your intestines is the part that is cut away in a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass operation. If you get your sugar directly to your veins (IntraVenous (IV)) your insulin will increase by say 1, and if you take the same sugar through mount (Orally) the insulin respons is 5 times that, because of the GIP-hormone that stimulate pancreas to secrete extra insulin. This is not so important if you do intermittent fasting and IV-feeding is not an option, but when you get a normal glucose response, in the future, and if you then want to eat relatively often, then GIP is important, so that you don't get too much insulin into your system, and again get diabetes. In my opinion Dr Fung is not focused enough on the actual blood glucose no and ketone no you need to set up a successful IF-regiment. If you are very diabetic you will never get a measurable ketone level from IF, and you will need to use longer fasts, also you will need to be more careful what you eat when you are very diabetic, so that you don't go over your sugar tolerance. If you are less diabetic IF and eat what you want when eating probably works fine.
