I like how Data actually starts working on the device before catching himself. "Hey, wait a minute, I'm supposed to _stop_ this."

That's intellectual curiosity there, but tempered with not wanting to destroy in order to learn as much as he can about how data works and thinks.

@@originaljackofhearts Except they will be trying to solve physics conundrums and bio-medical curiosities. Probably would have to be produced by the BBC instead of an American studio or today they would dumb it down badly.

Data: Ah welcome to the Enterprise Dr. Bashir, I see you have an unknown device that appears to utilize plasma pathways, could be quite dangerous. As per ships protocol I must ask we take it to Main Engineering and plug it directly into our warp core.. This way please.

If anything, one wonders why more people are not immediately fascinated by Data. Like Sarek and his entourage. You’d think Vulcans would be fascinated by a being of pure logic.

Am I the only one who was somewhat suspicious of this scene? The fact that Data wasn't expecting him to be there and the whole Changling thing made me worry he might not have been Julian for a second.
@TheSwedeMoffo
@TheSwedeMoffo Жыл бұрын
No. This aired while DS9 still was in it's first season, years before they introduced the Changeling plot line. Plus, the Enterprise was at DS9 at the time so we could expect that some DS9 personnel would be aiding in repairing and reinforcing the Enterprise since they were there.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Star Fleet want to know how Data was built? Since he's been teleported plenty of times so doesn't the computer know now how he's put together? Plus they have replicators.
