Will Dr Mike be proved right or wrong? This study (NEW for 2024) tested one of Dr Mike’s theories on muscle building to the EXTREME.
I’m not Dr Mike, but I am an Exercise Scientist who specialises in muscle loss in clinical populations. If you want to keep up to date with the latest research on preventing muscle loss and inducing muscle gain, hit subscribe!
Thanks for watching.

Joe Weider was teaching this principle back in the 1970s. Full range of motion, holding the weight at peak contraction, and controlled negative reps.

Vince Gironda was ahead of his time. He seemed to know all of this.

I think this also argues that completing long length partials may be a viable training method. I know Jeff Nippard speaks highly of them as well.

Yep, agree! At the moment I am siding with full ROM because I'm not yet convinced that the final 1/3 portion of the concentric is not contributing to muscle growth in any way. But, it would be interesting to see the effect of lengthened partials vs full ROM (which is a study Brad Schoenfeld is currently running I think!)

3:34 or only focus on the range of motion that allows for the most stretching...the long length partisals

Can you get a proper mic with a pop filter? There are times we can hear your breath on the mic. Its distracting, and we want to concentrate on your words.

Thanks for the feedback 🙌 I’ve tried a couple but keep coming back to this as it works best with my iPhone. All in good time though 👀
