Thanks SOS and Dr. Duggal. I’ve suffered with Hallux limitus/rigidus for years and have watched countless videos on these conditions. This is by far the most balanced and informative video I’ve found. If I lived in the US I’d make an appointment with this clinic but alas that’s not an option. I feel much better informed on options, benefits and risks. Now to find a comparable clinic in the Greater Toronto Area (Canada). For those of you suffering with hallux pain the best shoes I’ve found are HOKA (Bondi 5) and Brooks (either Ghost or Glycerin). I also use Correct Toes toe spacers that realign the metatarsals and while they take some getting used to they do relieve the big toe joint pain. Good luck everyone. I really wish I had an orthopedic doctor, who was as informative and passionate as you! I am a runner and have experience big toe pain that I have just pushed through for the past year. Within the last six months, it has gotten significantly worse I cannot bend my toe. I cannot do lunges, nothing and the big toe pain and limited mobility is affecting my gate. I also believe that is causing extreme lower back pain in hip pain and other joint issues. What kind of running shoes would you recommend to radiate the pressure on my big toe? I’m currently running in ASICS gel cumulus. 🏃‍♀

I thought I was going to have a bunion surgery done, but it come out I have 3 other surgeries to be done on that same 🦶🏾 I am till have a long day to go apparently, I am on my 9 weeks post surgery

Unfortunately the last 3 toes on my right foot I'm having pain on the bottom of the pinky toe and on the inside of the bottom has become pinched looking as if you were to just squeeze the skin only on one side like a partial callast , and on the same foot before my big toe at the joint I have developed a large solid mass that has developed and if I wear tennis shoes with the strings to tight it a shocking pain I could send a picture if you want to have a better idea of diagnosis. I was hoping that it isn't gout. I'm only 45 but I'm a tallship engineer and so I'm on my feet all day. The shocking pain from to the top of my foot actually can change the taste in my mouth and sometimes if feel like I can actually see the pain if that makes any sense. Thank you Doc. Wayne

I recently gotten a lapiplasty done where they fused the first cuneiform and first metatarsal. As a result of that my toe joint can no longer plantar flex and have limited dorsal flex. Also, can bunionectomy cause arthritis ? Is so can you stop it early? Update: after much research and due to my current situation, I’ve come to the realization that any type of fusion anywhere in the body will never work EVER ! There are cartilage there for a reason and removing it causes more problems

Hello Doctor Duggal, thank you for this video. When is a cheilectomy no longer adequate for big toe hallux rigidus ? What has happened in the joint to eliminate that surgery? A surgeon said if I had shaved down the bone spur, the result would be floppy toe and I do not want that. I also do not want this big bone spur on top of the toe joint it is hard to find shoes. I've gone through intense pain on my foot when I worked on my feet all day, but now it usually does not hurt from use, only from high heels or too tight of shoes constricting the bone spur on top of the foot. I've read about another option than the cartiva but cannot recall what it is. Is there a surgery like Cartiva with a better track record? What about stem cells or prolotherapy?
