I didn't watch this whole episode but.... I'm going to guess that your relationship didn't start on sending nudes, and underage nudes at that. I do agree that Dr. Phil is somewhat wrong about the long distance thing. I think meeting online is a valid way to connect with someone because after all, there's another person on the other side of the computer....but from the video it just seems that she's too immature to be in a relationship and I don't think she's able to tell whether the guy she met online is trustworthy or not.

Umm me and my boyfriend met ”online” we talked every day for a year before we met up in person yes I'm sure we both would have preferred to date someone who lives where we lived at the time. But he was my best friend and I could talk to him about everything we met through my sister who was his friend on Xbox Live 😂😂 now we live together after three years and we are happy together oh and I met him when I was 21! He was 23 so I mean I could happen you definitely have to be smart about it. I don't know the whole story with this girl but I didn't like how Dr.Phil was making it sound being a person who was in that position before and I can completely understand how you could fall in love with someone you've never met in person ( we didn’t actively looking to be in a relationship it just kind of happens.)

Yeah I mean I met my boyfriend online and he’s going to be moving in with me across the country but he is escaping an abusive household that he is currently in because he pays for his own college. I kinda didn’t like how this was playing out because we met up and everything and it turned out great but I guess like everyone was saying, she’s 17 and he’s 21 which is a little... like it can be bad. Me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year now, and we’ve unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet in person, even though we FaceTime and call each other every day. We “settled” for each other because we had never met a person we identified so closely with. I’d rather have the perfect guy if I have the whole world at my fingertips than some neighbor I don’t have anything in common with. I don’t think the issue with LDR’s is the meeting in person thing. It’s the idea that commitment means being connected at the heart and not at the hands. Being connected with someone on a deep personal level is a whole lot harder than living next to someone who’s “alright.”

I do understand how ppl in long distance relationships could be at an emotional risk, besides the potential murderer, kidnapper stuff... But I was really lucky and im so thankful for meeting the sweetest most amazing guy without being delusional, because I did think about it, he didn't give me any signs but I have been hurt so many times I was scared and so was he. We ended up meeting in person for the first time when he flew me to go there on the day of our first anniversary and it was so magical, I ran straight to him. I was suprised that my grandma agreed to come along with me, although she seemed to like him a lot and even use him as a model as to how I should behave xD, I love his family aswell, his mom was the sweetest and so welcoming. The most amazing 2 weeks of my life. Im planning on doing another trip soon with my mom so she too gets the chance to meet him in person since she's been so excited to do so. And to think we met though World of Warcraft xd. Believe it or not, I find these type of relationships more meaningful since you get to actually know each other, because talking and talking is the only thing u have, besides us playing games.

Okay, the fact that he's 21 and she's 17 is alarming, but he's talking as if long distance relationships in general aren't real and valid. It's perfectly possible to meet someone online from another country or across the country and be in a fulfilling reationship with them, if you're really willing to be together you'll meet up sooner or later anyways and I've seen countless of scenarios where people end up moving and living together. LDR's can be just as real, valid and fulfilling as any other relationship if it's the right person. Just remember to be safe when you're getting to know and meeting someone, but the same could be said about meeting a stranger in a bar offering you a drink. Just be safe in general and maybe don't date adults when you're underaged, online or not.

Exactly! I've met my boyfriend on an MMORPG, he's from the UK and I'm from the Netherlands, so there's quite a big body of water between us, but we see eachother every month and we've been together for almost a year now. Eventually he'd like to move here as well. Tbh, my relationship with him is so much better and more fulfulling than any other short distance relationship I've had. If you really have a special connection with someone, the distance doesn't matter anymore.
