Thank you, Dr Friedman. What a fascinating idea ... that the charismatic are mostly narcissistic exhibitionists but analysts could and should develop their own charisma in the service of therapy for others. The discussion at the end really enlivens the topic, and you can sense the warmth and fellow feeling between the participants. I just love the frankness that analysts bring to any conversation. Thanks to all involved.

My definition of charisma: charisma is the ability to make other people do what you want without them realizing that they're doing what you want. Sounds like manipulation? Well, that's because charisma IS a form of manipulation. I'm very skeptical of "charismatic people".
