1:14:28 - When I was on the ApoE4 diet, which is both a low-carbohydrate and low-saturated fat diet high in olive oil and vegetables, I could not feel satiated no matter how much lean protein, fibre, or olive oil I ate. The only thing that provided me with satiety was eating a lot of carbohydrates or saturated fat. One lady told me that hunger is only mental and that I had to change my mental attitude and that when she was young and still hungry after she ate, her mother only offered her a carrot. Needless to say, I got into an argument with her afterwards. Then when I ate a carnivore diet of grilled beef patties with their fat left in, I had instant and effortless satiety without having to continuously ignore my appetite. So satiety is more than just mental and it seems that animal protein with animal fat together is excellent for it.

I consume a lot of nutrition content and this was the first time I’ve heard someone explain how most insulin production is merely to hold your energy stores. 🤯 mind blown

I live in Ohio River valley. Hunting animals from buffalo, elk & deer was performed with ease by native Americans and Europeans. Today you can hunt deer by leaving your oven door open… Most hunters today sit in a tree and shoot down. Daniel Boone, Simon Kenton and others wrote about how plentiful game was. I am not seeing the 20,000 steps per day of a hunter gatherer being an absolute. We have Amish farmers in this area and they have been measured at 10,000 steps per day. They raise animals along with grains and plants.

One topic I would like to see Ted speak on is gaining weight on a strict Carnivore diet. Dr. Shawn Baker bulked 80# eating the finest pedigree beef. He started a cut in the last quarter of 2023. Obviously his diet of ribeye gave him the insulin stimulus to bulk. He replaced his consumed glycogen after each workout by converting protein. Being insulin resistant this gave him an insulin response needed. Can you elaborate on this metabolically and physiologically?

Ken Berry is "packing on," too. He can leave his shirt out and sit up as straight as he can, but I can see that he's overeating taking his own advice. I noticed I gained belly fat in April when I added butter and bacon.

If you eat low fat protein you will need the carbohydrate energy from 6 apples and yogurt to fuel your body.

Post menopausal women will lose weight just by WALKING for 30 minutes minimum per day. Dr Ted could be a little more mindful about just how much time (and energy) women have each day. Having lost the bulk of our weight then we would have more energy to maybe 'consider' doing weight training to further increase muscle tone and cardio. Otherwise, it is just not sustainable unless you have all day to indulge oneself in exercising and resting. TBH if I was his client - I would bail very quickly on following that kind of exercise regime that he is insisting is absolutely necessary. I took up walking for between 30 and 60 minutes a day depending on how I was feeling on the day and within a week my legs were toning back up (under the fat) and I started losing weight. This gave me encouragement to then start on nutrient density and satiety in my eating chasing SMALL goals each week to reach a SUSTAINABLE change in my mindfulness regarding what I eat and how I burn it through Optimising Nutrition. I feel engaged and much more educated on the direction I am going and how I am going to get there. :) xx

something tells me ted prefers carbs over fat period, too bad fat adaption will remove fat from blood.

You should interview Bart Kay. He has explained the Randal Cycle numerous times. He is very versed with studies, physiology but has never been a clinical MD treating Diabetic patients.

what if you can't do the Fibre because of ibs, higher fat seems to be the only answer?

Same here; I listen to as many interviews as I can find to get the fullest explanation of his philosophy. In another interview he said that in a high carb diet, fiber is very important; not very important in a high protein diet, AND he encouraged fat being traded for carbs so insulin sensitivity stays high.

Regarding intensive exercise / HR increase and What if you have limited mobility due to spinal and neurological conditions? Does this mean they can never lose weight even if they mainly eat high satiety and nutrient rich diet?

go carnivore, you don't have to exercise to lose weight, you don't have to count anything either going no carb, eat till full check it out

Very fit active pescatarian husband had a very bad stroke seven years ago. There is no way he could do this level of activity, yet he loses weight swiftly and maintains loss- he does however, gain weight , in a way he never did pre stroke, by eating above 20 G low carb per day.

Dr. Naiman makes references to a "U-shaped" curve, but his hand gestures suggest a bell-shaped curve. Does he really mean an upside-down U-shaped curve, or bell curve?

You lost me on your moderate level exercise requirements. You need to add some more levels. From what I can tell you have 3 levels... sedentary, moderate, and Olympic! ffs
