From the Student of The apostle John. St. Ignatius of Antioch in 110 AD “Make certain, therefore, that you all observe one common Eucharist; for there is but one Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, and but one cup of union with his Blood, and one single altar of sacrifice-even as there is also but one bishop, with his clergy and my own fellow servitors, the deacons. This will ensure that all your doings are in full accord with the will of God”

This is very hard to distinguish from Arminianism. They also have a sacrifice shed for everybody that eventually won't perfect anybody unless it is applied to one by an autonomous act of believing, which has to be maintained by the continual autonomous act of believing (this is also indistinguishable from merits), hence it is substantially the same as the theology in the Canons of the Council of Trent.

The Roman Catholic Mass is the very sacrifice that the writer of Hebrews rejects: offered up by a fallible priesthood that continually needs to be replaced because they die and do not continue forever as Jesus Christ does, and their sacrifice perfects no one because they keep needing to offer it up. By contrast, the High Priest of the true Christian, Jesus Christ, offered himself up once for all time (John 19:30; Hebrews 1:3; 10:8-18; 1 Peter 3:18), and does not fail to save all those the Father has given to him (John 6:37-40), because "he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them." (Hebrews 7:11-28).

@@kelslo74 Idolatrous religion is Satan's primary tool of deception. Christ reserved His harshest admonishments for the religious leaders and those who stressed the ritual and worldly ways over true faith. And while you're within a false system, especially one as old and powerful as the RCC, you simply cannot see through all the pomp and ritual and smoke - you have to stand outside of it and look at it that way Jesus did, and that is very hard for we who are fallen. It's also very difficult to convince people that they do not assist in their own salvation - they cannot believe that Christ finished the full atonement for us. They've been seduced by the inverted false gospel, and highly resent being told that they are the ones who've been led astray. The RCC is the incarnation of Satan's pride, and it's blinding.

@EyeToob
@EyeToob 2 жыл бұрын
@@calson814 Excellent question, Eric. There is good news and there is bad news. First the bad news : All of humanity is disobedient to God and separated from God. We stand outside of God's favor and we need to be saved from the punishment our disobedience deserves. If we die separated from God, we will be judged by God and condemned to Hell. The good news : (By the way the word "gospel" means good news) God provided a way for you and me to no longer be separated from God. God made a way for us to enter His family (His kingdom). The way into God's family/kingdom is by trusting in His Son, Jesus, to save us from Hell. Hell is the punishment our disobedience deserves. Jesus came down from heaven and lived among us as a human in order to die on a cross to take the punishment we deserve. If we put our trust in Jesus to save us (just like a person trusts their parachute when they jump out of a plane when skydiving) Jesus will save us from Hell. Three days after Jesus died on the cross Jesus rose from the dead to prove that his offer of salvation from Hell is for real. His resurrection from the dead proved to the world that his teachings and salvation are truly from God. The difference between the true gospel I just mentioned and the false gospel that the Roman Catholic Church promotes is that the Roman Catholic Church adds works to the true gospel which turns it into a false gospel. God said that those who believe (trust) in Jesus will not perish, but have ETERNAL life. There is no special practice or sacrament that must be performed to receive ETERNAL life. God tells us that we must turn away from our disobedience and fully trust Jesus as our savior and king. In the Bible this trust is called faith. Those who have faith in Jesus have ETERNAL life right now. The Roman Catholic Church says people must experience the sacrament of baptism to be saved, but when we study the Scriptures we find out this work is not necessary to be saved. The thief on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized and Jesus told him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” We get baptized *after we are saved* as a proclamation to the world that we have decided to turn away from our disobedience and decided to trust in Jesus. The Roman Catholic Church says if a Catholic commits a mortal/grave sin (such as fornication, idolatry, adultery, homosexuality, theft, drunkenness) that mortal sin cuts off their relationship from God. The Catholic must perform various sacraments (such as Confession, Penance, Eucharist) to restore their relationship with God. These are more examples of Catholicism adding works to the gospel. What did Jesus say about being in God's family? John 8 : 35 - 36 "Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but *a son belongs to it FOREVER.* So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. What do the Scriptures say? Hebrews 10 : 14 "For by one sacrifice *he has made perfect FOREVER* those who are being made holy." Eric, so the Gospel is the good news that God has made a way through Jesus to save us from Hell by trusting in Jesus. By trusting in Jesus we are made sons in God's family FOREVER. By trusting in Jesus we are made perfect FOREVER. There is no work to add to what Jesus has done for us on the cross in order to be saved. God says if we trust in Jesus, we will receive ETERNAL life. By definition someone who received ETERNAL life will have it FOREVER. If somehow they can lose it, then it really wasn't ETERNAL. If somehow someone lost it, then it should be called TEMPORARY life. Here is what Jesus said, John 5 : 21 - 24 "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has ETERNAL LIFE and WILL NOT BE JUDGED but *has crossed over from death to life."* This is the Gospel. This is the good news. May every Roman Catholic embrace this good news and reject the false gospel of works the Roman Catholic Church promotes! May there be world wide revival among Catholics everywhere becoming Christians!

The problem of evil and justice It´s an argument against an all good/benevolent God. Is a problem of a characteristic of God. Have you ever consider that the God (not talking of any particular definition of god) but the characteristics of God you thought was the true one is false and the real God maybe just created the universe and opted to not interfere or maybe he actually is ok that evil exist or even so he is fine with torture and pain on innocents creatures. And if you thought your God was all good/benevolent then the evidence maybe be pointing that is not the right characteristics of "god".
@EyeToob
@EyeToob 2 жыл бұрын
@@a.39886 Thanks for your response. I believe the evil we see all around us proves that humans are evil. I don't see it as proof that God is not all good. God doesn't turn a blind eye to the bad things we are doing to each other. Every person alive will be judged by God after their death and the correct punishment will be applied to those whose record still has evil on it. Some may ask, "Why doesn't God go ahead and punish the evil people right now?" If He did, then all of humanity would be wiped out. We are all sinners (disobedient to God's commands) and we all deserve God's punishment. It is because of God's mercy we are even breathing right now. He has no obligation to keep us alive. I can't answer why God allows people to commit evil acts, but I can point to how God is able to take evil acts and use them so our lives will benefit from the evil. Here is the number one example : The murder of Jesus was an evil act, but God used it to erase the sins of those who put their trust in Jesus. God used the murder of Jesus as a sacrifice so the blood of Jesus would erase our evil acts from our record if we cry out to Jesus to erase our records and if we commit to live for Jesus as our eternal king. Jesus said he would never turn anyone away if they came to him for their etrernal salvation from Hell. Another example is when Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. The brothers meant it for evil, but God used it for good. God used Joseph's slavery as a stepping stone toward placing him as the second in command of the nation of Egypt. In that position Joseph used his authority to store up 7 years worth of food so when a 7 year famine came everyone in Egypt was able to survive. This included Joseph's brothers! Joseph got to see his brother again and this is what he told them, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." That is in Genesis chapter 50 verse 20. So I see the all good God as being able to use the evil acts of others in ways that no one could see. The murder of Jesus is ultimate example of how God can use evil to bring us blessings that will last forever. When we put our trust in Jesus the punishment we deserve is set aside because Jesus took the punishment while He was on the cross. That is where God the Father took our sin and placed it on Jesus and then crushed Jesus in our place so we would not have to experience it. Those who will not trust in Jesus will have to experience the punishment they deserve for their disobedience to God. That punishment is separation from God in Hell. Imagine someone who is drowning turning away someone who is offering them a life preserver. That is what it is like for everyone who turns Jesus away. He is the only one who can save us. He is the only one who can erase our record full of evil acts.

I’m Protestant, but I have to disagree about the Catholic practice of the Eucharist. The truth is that the entire Christian Church until the Reformation believed in the real presence of Christ in the sacramental meal known as the Lord’s Supper or communion. And after the reformation, it became a point of conflict and division amongst Protestants. Luther famously defended the real presence and the Lutherans continued to teach and observe it. Frankly, I find the way the meal is observed in many Protestant churches to be a cheap imitation of what our Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, Episcopalian, Lutheran, and a few other brothers and sisters practice. We use little plastic cups and plastic wrapped wafers to remember Christ’s passion. Horrible! What a failure of understanding we have in this area! It’s so poor it’s causing me to re-evaluate my beliefs and look closely at sacerdotal and liturgical branches of the Church. If Protestants don’t get their act together on this vital issue, I think they will see many of their people leave in search of the true table.

Both see Antichrist as a single, solitary, individual person. Both are in error. The Bible presents Antichrist as a false system (actually an EMPIRE; cf. Dan. 7), which claims to be Christian, but which actually attempts to usurp the power of Christ over His Church and replace it with Satanic deception (eg. the Sacerdotal system of the Papists). @@jameshayes211 Nope, the "man of sin, son of perdition" is the same entity as the "little horn" (Dan. 7), the "sea beast" (Rev. 13:1-10), and the "scarlet harlot" (Rev. 17). All these texts are talking about the Antichrist. Notice, a "sea beast" (Rev. 13:1-10) is NOT a single, solitary, individual person; rather, it's an EMPIRE (it arose out of, and after the fall of the Roman Empire, after 476 A.D.). The "man of sin, son of perdition" sits in the "temple of God"; for Paul, the "temple" is the Church of Christ (cf. 1 Cor. 3:17; 2 Cor. 6:16; Eph. 2:21). The "temple" Paul refers to in 2 Thes. 2:3-4 does not indicate a literal temple that was either still standing (as the Preterists falsely assert), nor is Paul referring to a future temple (as the Dispensational Futurists falsely claim); Paul is referring to the Church. My position is Historically Protestant, and Reformed. Preterism and Futurism both come from the counter-Reformation led by the Jesuits. They were forced to invent these things because Protestantism was gaining such a strong foothold throughout Europe. Bible-believing Protestants saw in the Prophecies of Daniel and John/Revelation the identity of the Antichrist, historically and prophetically. Luis de Alcasar (S.J.) was the first systematizer of the Preterist school of Prophetic interpretation; while, Francisco Ribera (S.J.) was the founder of the Futurist school (which Dispensational Futurists have unwittingly taken up). The Westminster and 1689 London Baptist Confessions of Faith give the correct interpretation of the identity of the "man of sin, son of perdition" in their respective chapters "Of The Church". You should check them out. You'll find that your position falls outside of the teachings of the Reformation on this issue. Whereas, I side with it. *Soli Deo Gloria*

Further, as there were types prefiguring the Christ (e.g., Moses and David), so there have historically been types prefiguring the Antichrist (e.g., Antiochus IV and Adolf Hitler). Your error on the question of the Antichrist's identity is analogous to the error of contemporary rabbinic Judaism on the question of the Christ's identity; for example, whenever I present Isaiah 53 to an unbelieving Jew, he insists that Isaiah is not speaking of a specific individual, but only of the nation of Israel.

As a Catholic I really don’t have to convert Protestants to Christianity. Like us, they already are. We recite the same Nicene Creed. But Protestants are Christians who have been benighted to the full spiritual benefits Jesus bequeathed to His Church. He did not call out to the followers who opted to no longer follow Him in John 6: “Hey guys! I was speaking metaphorically. My Body is not REALLY food. My Blood is not REALLY drink.” No. Jesus Christ let those former followers no longer follow Him. The Eucharist was a doctrine-yes, that’s right, a teaching-taught by not only by the Apostolic Fathers, but the pre-Constantinian Fathers. Luther and even Calvin taught a doctrine closer to what Catholics teach than what modern Protestants believe. Zwingli is the one who is the cause of modern Protestants depriving themselves of the intimate reception of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. sc30,.....Absolutely not. You are in total deception. No actual Christian would ever make a statement like that. Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!

If they trust in Christ alone for salvation and do not depend on their own works they can be saved. In other words if they ignore their own churches teaching. If they are trying by works to establish their own righteousness they will not be justified. Salvation is always by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

@@kelslo74 There's no such thing, and protestants make no such claim. Grace only comes from Christ.

Only God can change hearts, not men. I don't care how good or sound anyone's argument is for the truth because an unregenerate person will make any excuse to not bend the knee in submission to God without Him stepping in to soften their stony heart. Also, this comment is just disrespectful.
