What looks like the second magnet is most likely a counter weight. The engine already fired on both compression and exhaust strokes.. The crank makes 2 revolutions per cycle on a 4 stroke

Any chance of adding a 22mm Mikuni carburetor in the future? Should really give better fuel and air flow and increase power the most. Plus they have way better throttle response.

I was thinking the same thing. They increased the airflow with the bigger cam, but did not say anything with regard to the carb itself. Maybe a slightly bigger jet would help, and I do agree with a wheelie bar change, but I would have to say CLOSER to the ground. By doing that, the nose wont rare up as high and the rear tire can remain in contact with the ground. Also, switch to an actual drag race compound tire that will hook better....

JRWperformance agreed. Some clutch tuning, rear sets, adjustable 'bar, and around an 18-20mm Mikuni and it'd be on fire! Getting the weight out the primary will get it out the hole harder and the 60' would go through the roof

You may want to gear lower so you can take advantage of your RPM range being shifted higher, or get a stiffer spring for the driven clutch to allow higher rpms. Also stock rods like to burst at 5k and ventilate the crankcase, but you covered it in the vid. Keep up the good work!

You should add a shock absorber to the wheelie bar to reduce the hopping when it launches, it should help with traction on the launch

When it fires on intake and exhaust it's called a waste spark system. It's done in many early electronic ignition vehicles to only have to use one coil for 2 cylinders and save money. A notable example being the venerable Buick LN3 and later 3800 V6. On this application it may be a universal size shaft so maybe there's two magnets for 2 cylinder engines.

Ike is completely right at the end of the video about the cam not adding the expected power, to make power you need more air and fuel or a higher compression. Also the billet fly wheel reduced the kinetic energy needed to rotate the crank so it most likely picked up some power from that.

If you put your weight over the handle bars it will keep the front wheel down. That will keep your back wheel from being lifted off the ground by your wheelie bar. A lot of drag racers do that because it makes the launch better. Then you will see some good time being made up without adding any more power.

I believe that when John tried to pull start it it wouldn't grab on because you didnt torque down the flywheel correctly. You need a torque wrench, in case your wondering the key isnt what holds the flywheel in place its the correct amount of torque thats used.

7:50 It's just a counter weight. Even with a single magnet it still fires on the exhaust stroke because the engine is turning over 2 times during the 4 strokes.

drill some holes in the flywheel to make it lighter, install the billet connecting rod, put a genuine mikuni on it, port the intake and exhaust ports, and shave the head down a little. you also would need to add aftermarket pushrods because the original ones will bend.

Like mentioned below , I think adding a spring or shock to the upper wheelie bar supports might help keep the rear tire on the ground during a launch ...... This might stop the rear wheel from unloading under acceleration ........

hey, any easy fix to the violent takeoffs would be to lower the wheelie bar to closer to ground. it eliminates most of the hop.

If you guys found a way to spring load your wheelie bar so it was softer. If you notice in the slow mo vids the launch is so violent when you hit your rock hard wheelie bar it actually lifts the rear wheel losing traction.

the big thing with those billet flywheels is that the aluminum fins are stronger and don't fly off at 6500. the weight isn't much of a concern.

The reason the time doesn't change much is most likely because this is like a cam in a v8, it has a power range. And you might not get up to par to bring the power in yet, the cam might be for top speed power

just a thought, they might possibly be doing it so they dont have to balance the flywheel, if you have one dense iron bit on one side of a rotating mass youre gonna have to balance it with another bit of lead or something like that on the other side, thats probably more expensive than just putting another magnet of the same size opposite to it

guys need to put a 22mm mikuni on it and also install a real one piece header for it. so it can flow correct. 22mm will have to be rejetted to your engine of course and you should put a billet rod in it. gauranteed that motor will then rev to the moon and have good power. i bet with that stock carb on it that the spark plug is white as a ghost(lean) also you could pull the head off and just do a light porting in the bowls into the start of the intake and exhaust runnings. all your really doing is cleaning up any left over machine work from the factory. also you can find info on how to clean up your head with just some light porting. when you have the head off too, have someone mill .050 off of it. thats a safe amount of material to take off without any problems. that cam you guys have is design work the best with theses modifications.

One is a balance weight but what you are describing is called wasted spark. The GY6 does that.

I would raise the wheelie bar about 2 inches higher. if you notice it is not letting the bike get to a better pivot angle for the power transfer. and look at the end on slow motion you can see it's doing a wheel hop just like when the suspension twists on a car axle in a take off like that.

To all these guys saying you need to rejet the carb because the cam is pulling in more air, that is completely false. Yes there is a stronger draw but you have to remember that it's pulling in both fuel and air. The cam can't pull more air without also pulling in more fuel with it.

Here in Metro Detroit there's a whole contingent of guys who drag race mini bikes 1/8 mile at different places, mostly Milan Dragway. I just can't get past the thought of that 670 predator from the lawn mower on a stretched minibike frame! Tall enough to fit the 670 but long in front slanted towards the ground to where the riders weight would be well out in front. Speeds in excess of 85 mph + are possible I think

try foot pegs on the rear axel it will move weight back farther and directly over the rear tire so it should hop less and take off a bit faster

Well if there are items like there are for Briggs get a set of copper head gaskets to get a bit more compression, I would say shave the head down bit but with valves in the head it is much more of a task than a flathead. Also look into "porting and polishing" (at least) the intake and the exhaust to help the engine breath, and maybe make the exhaust less harsh of a bend. If you really want more compression, and since you are doing the rod anyhow, look into a performance piston, might not be a bad idea to get a stronger one either case as well as a billet crank.
