I own a 2023 RS5 coupe & previously I owned a 2021 M4 (non-X-Drive)...the M4 is dynamically superior & a bit more fun but I still made the right choice for the real world. The RS badge simply has more gravitas than the M....the amount of respect & attention my car gets on the road is just on a different level to my M-cars.

A decent film, nice to watch, even taking the “quality” tyres into account, you seemed to drive the M4 more aggressively than the RS5. Would have been fairer to see you mixing up the drives on the handling circuit to compare. Enjoyed the film, look forward to your future productions

Lack of front end grip in the RS 5 meant I couldn't really push. Saying that, I would have been 1-1.5 seconds quicker in the M4 if I backed off a little, wasn't a great lap time wise at all. 👌

Great review Joe. Would have been interesting for each of you to run both cars on the track and compare, as you’re used to the BMW, he’s used to the Audi. And put proper boots on the Audi. I’ve owned both Audi and (currently) BMW, it’s back to Audi for me, can’t stand the looks. RS5 Sportback. Even my local BMW admit it’s better looking and practical.

I think if the RS5 was using the same Michelin cup 2 tires as the BMW he would have tied you around the track. The RS5 is a better all rounder car, with a nicer interior.

The M4 was never going to win a drag race in a normal surface in cool March, plus Matt from Carwow showed that when it comes to getting off the line in less than ideal conditions Quattro is ahead of all the rest of the AWD systems. We will never know just how much of a difference decent rubber on the RS5 would have made on the track though doubt it would have bettered the M4 in this discipline. The AWD M3/4 will be the best of both worlds because you can turn it to RWD for track duties and leave it powering all wheels when a drag race demands it. Though at probably £80K it’s pricing is getting out of hand.

This rs5 is tuned? Rs5 does 1/4m in 12.0s in carwow channel and new m3c does 11.4s in autotopnl. The time is so much different and here m4c which is abit lighter than m3c should be able to beat rs5 easily.

The thing that's great about the M4 is that it's dimensionally identical to the last M6 but you get an inline 6 with pretty close to the same wheel horsepower. With a tune this M4 is probably faster than the old M6. Love the inline 6 sound though- all-time great. The RS5 sound is actually pretty nice as well.

I find that 2nd gear launches help reduce wheel spin a touch. I never use 1st gear in the 140i if I wanna get off the line quick. Great video as always mate. 🙌🏼

I literally just traded in my 2021 RS5 Sportback for a M4 X Drive, and the difference between the 2 is shocking. Mrs took delivery of her RS3 a few months back, and it makes the RS5 feel like a boring old man - to the point where the RS4/RS5 feel a bit obsolete. The M4 is not only fast, it feels like a proper sports car. Owned stacks of RS cars over the years, and this is my first M car, and I can't believe how much better they drive.

Maybe it’s the US cars, but I was able to pull side-by-side from a dig with a new RS5 with a 2020 F82 M4. Dead even. Are the US competition cars faster than the UK (or vice-versa, is the UK RS5 more powerful)? Never the less, the G8x M3/4 will be a MONSTER when it finally gets AWD (with the option to switch to RWD, of course). That’s what I’m looking forward to!
