I just found your channel. I’m not a drag racer but I’m in to cars and love learning, it’s nice to see someone out there who will still teach and explain. Thanks!!

I like the way turbo John shows and explains why he did the change and what will happen to the car when he makes them changes. It helps to learn too.

Thank you!!! So helpful! Most are so secretive about data. Im having so much trouble with boost leash. Im close to the same car & setup but my boost is all over the place. So inconstant. Im must have got a defective leash.

What’s ur timing like in the 40psi range?
@TurboJohnRacing5 жыл бұрын
About 23degrees. This is on M1 fuel, I think compression is right at 10.5, 3.9-4.0 a/f ratio. These heads are slow burn though, so read the plugs. And only 1/8 mile passes.

What do you gap your rings at for 39psi. I have a 4.125 bore

The first thing I noticed is that TPS never goes to 100%. Is this just a sensor glitch or was it really not at 100%?
@TurboJohnRacing5 жыл бұрын
Me just not pushing it down all the way or the sensor needed recalibrated
@bfromthed5 жыл бұрын
@@TurboJohnRacing perhaps you could calibrate a light on the dash so you can visually that only comes on when it's 100%?

I agree Holley does make a good product but for me I'll stick with my Holley carb as understanding and tuning fuel injection it is out of my league I'm lucky I can turn on a laptop let alone tunic hour from 1 LOL. Great job on the videos keep up the great work

I was blow thru carb for years! Loved it too

Take some classes...?
@TurboJohnRacing5 жыл бұрын
That's a great point, there are some good efi classes out there. It really is just jumping in an playing with the software and figuring out how to maneuver. For the Holley, you can download the software for free and learn it before you even buy anything.
@177SCmaro2 жыл бұрын
I was a complete noob the first time I fired up the Holley HP on my Coyote. While I still have a lot to learn Holley does a lot of the tuning for you. You just have to know what to tell it that you want in terms of air/fuel and spark at it does what it can to make it happen.

John! Do you still use boost leash? I messaged you. Like to pay you to help me with my boost dips nobody can help me with. Randy from boost tried without success. Planning to switch to holley for boost control since nobody can help me.

You kept talking about back pressure. Why was that so important with some pressure
@Joshsmithits5 жыл бұрын
Bryan .Rawls lower back pressure= more efficient turbo. Higher back pressure = more heat & less power, the motor basically sucks hot air back in threw the exhaust durning high back pressure events, trying to reuse the already burnt oxygen & fuel.. not good for power at all. Lowering the back pressure, via properly sized turbo/turbos, helps HP tremendously!
@SpooneyFranki205 жыл бұрын
BOOSTEDROK thanks for clearing that up for me
@TurboJohnRacing5 жыл бұрын
Backpressure is the frenemy! You have to have it to get the turbo to work, but too much and it's party over. Camshaft events make a big difference to help reduce backpressure. On all of my cars, the point where back pressure starts to slow the car is about 1.5 to 1 backpressure to boost ratio. Boost will keep going up, but backpressure will be picking up more per pound of boost. So if the engine is making 40psi of boost and 60psi of backpressure, something is maxed out.
