I know Dragon Age has become famous for not allowing characters to be simply 2 dimensional, but Roderick was so fucking well fleshed out that his was the only death in the ENTIRE game that made me cry. Yes he oppose me, yeah he was looking to fit into the asshole bureaucrat stereotype, but even before he died, I read his background and pieced together his faith, determination, and even his grief. I fell in love with his goodness stymied by fear and the he went and proved me right. I loved him for it. That villager you saved thanks you, as I do as well, for doubting and still being good.

Maybe Roderick was the reverse role to Judas - first disbelief and anger, later (and who didn't believe after THAT song) he was sory. AND he helped all others escape haven. Again, no simple black/white character.

Let's not forget how he fought red Templars/mages to save a villager even though he probably never lifted a weapon a day in his life
