The original idea for Dragon Age 4 reminds me of this early 2000's game I think was simply called "Pandora's Box". Essentially, professional thieves break into a museum to steal a priceless artifact for a wealthy buyer and it ends up being Pandora's Box and releases all these Greek monsters into the world that destroy life as we know it and I remember it being a really cool post apocalyptic earth idea.

This video would hit a lot better if you had actual game play and videos of the previous games than just have this crap trailer playing on loop for over 40 minutes. All it shows is you are supporting this game and nullifies all your complaints.

Im sorry but the Dorian storyline in inquisition is so powerful and literally brought tears to my eyes. I think it was great character writing. I also think that especially in a world like dragon age, if a coloured character lives in ferelden, like, maybe his or her parents migrated at some point? Same with tevinter. You dont have to say they are from somewhere else at all

The trailer tells me everything i need to know. They ran the numbers and concluded they might get a few more sales if they changed the style. No matter if it comprimises the gravity and seriousness of the game. Defenders will say the tone doesnt bother them. To me, of course it matters. Imagine if they changed the finale of the Godfather to anime style.. This Franchise is dead.

When it comes to "gratuitous violence" or edgy for the sake of being edgy, i agree, it's unnecessary and stupid. But, there are a lot of things that have double standards or a exagerated sense of "sanctity", that need to stop. I saw how the darkspawn look, didn't read the lore, but they look like creatures who would do that. However, i bet no one would bat an eye if they were ripping a man apart, limb by limb, while he screams in agony. Anyway, cant wait to hear your take on SM2, especially compared to the first one. Now that will be a ride.

If you like dark fantasy so much I recommend to check out Gothic. It's quite old german RPG with an amazing story that takes place in a penal mining colony. This game has big fanbase in central and eastern Europe but not so much in the anglosphere. Anyways cool video, I'm waiting for more

Yeah, DAO is on the list of games I regularly replay, too! Alongside Fallout New Vegas, KOTOR, Mass Effect (1 and 2 - I don't like 3 or Andromeda!), Deus Ex (the very first one!) and Divinity Original Sin 2

Yeah, this new game (Veilguard) looks like a mix of Dragon Age, Mass Effect (Andromeda to be exact, as the other games had more than 3 ability slots!), Cyberpunk 2077 (We are getting a "Johnny Solashand" after all and Minrathous looks like a dystopian cyberpunk city!) and Overwatch...I've taken to calling it Dragon Effect Thedas :(

There's this weird californication effect where everywhere you look, you can see demographics like these worlds are all modeled after modern day California. I can't fucking stand it. I'm from India and i would never want to see random Indian characters sprinkled in, in a kingdom like Ferelden.

I certainly won't be buying this. I only recognised Varric because of Bianca. The character models are too cartoony a'la Fortnite. Awful dialogue which simply does not fit into the era of the game setting. A Vell jumper ? That's the mystery and danger of the Veil destroyed. Ye Gods. Too much emphasis has been put into trying to be Marvelesque and Marvel itself is doing it's best to plummet off a cliff.

Remake for DAO, watched my dad play when it came out and I was four and he let me play it and I fell in love with the series. Honestly now I’m just disappointed and tired as an adult, but I still go back and play the games and I will play this one until it fractures what left of my love for the series.

Great stuff. As soon as I saw the trailer I was interested in your take. Happy to see you going back to the gaming content. It was my favourite back in the day (along with the RPGs). Remember all the Dragon Age/ME playthroughs well.

I agree with almost everything you said, I don't agree with the ''squik'' (?) you mentioned, specially when you spoke about the Schindler's list, a movie based on terrible real events in the real world but then you say something on a fictional world is ''too much'' with ''no purpose''. The purpose is to set the tone and explain the workings of that location and its inhabitants, it makes the world feel dangerous,real and can make the player/reader care more about it imo. And the only studio that can make something close to DA:O these days is Owlcat and they're not exempt from a degree of ''modern audience'' stuff and other problems.

For me, I dunno if its just me getting older and thinking, back in my day games were just better. Or.... Games are still good but I'm just cynical and bitter its not the "good ol' days". Veilguard just looks off to me. Nice video about DA though, I should finish off my DA Inquisition game.

it's not nostalgia/rose tinted glasses, games were better back in the day, one can argue about third party on NES but mostly even that era was magic also the physical arcade scene was fun...I miss going in and playing outrun, chase HQ or final fight....or even the various pinball machines, I remember playing the Stargate pinball machine a bit after the movie came out or in 92? when Mortal Kombat first released and seeing someone playing as Scorpion and just being wowed cus never seen a fighter like that lol and with any era there was trash but the quality games always rose to the top, there's always been companies we avoid like in the 80's LJN who just made bad licensed games I can;t think of a company in the 90's but both EA and Acti in the 00's earned that rep as well the only think EA had going for em for a long time was bond then they got Bioware, on;y thing Acti ever had IMO was THPS and they ran that into the ground like they have everything else they own or owned! we're in the wasteland era of entertainment where companies produce trash to waste our time and money!

Yeah games back then WERE better it’s not nostalgia or rose tinted glasses. I remember before how games when they were released the developers had to make sure that the game was as polished and complete as possible since there wasn’t a “will fix it later” mentality not to mention how games back then had much more creativity

I really dont like the fact that we have minority elves. For me elves are not humans. They should have had the big expressive eyes, fantastical skin colour or some of them could be dark skinned, like dark elves from Lineage 2. What they've done is just a lazy, blatant diversity checklist. Same thing with the qunari, they looked very unique in DA2 and after that they just became lazy with the design, tieflings are more interesting.

In DAI I don't truly have a favourite...hell, I don't like most DAI-Companions! I like Cassandra, Varric, Cullen, Josephine, and that's basically it! Hell, I would have liked Dorian if they hadn't made him gay ("Put a pretty dude in there! Make him gay!" - Imagine CARTMAN saying that!)...the others? SIGH...I'd love to exchange all of them for the cast of Origins or even DA2 (and I didn't like all DA2-Companions either, didn't like Fenris much for example and I loath Carver! If I ever play that game again? I've heard of a mod to make Bethany survive even if you are a mage yourself, so fuck you brother! You damn betrayer! Joining the Templars! If that isn't betrayal I don't know what is!)

Wait wait wait great , talk. But there is a huge flaw here , ferelden is not england is far away from england , ferelden is Italy . You have the spanish(qunari) in war with the arabs(tevinter) , you just get rid of napoleon(orlais) and you are free again. After that in a misthical place and fantasy world can we stop talking about colors , we have already race to count for it ... For example The elf story is the american native story , In the ferelden slavery is not permitted and in Italy slavery disappeared with the Roman empire turning christian , we have 2000 of years to talk about that...we even have the chantry... England ? Man england is far far from ferelden both geographically and politically. ( Sorry 2/3 language english) Here i have the perfect england in. Videogame , Ratatuai of pillar of eternity , that's england.

I always play mages when given the choice, but having drudged my way through Mass Effect Andromeda as an Adept with only 3 powers on hotbar I have no interest in doing it again. I know mages were broken in Origins, but I joke that they have been nerfed every game since.

Ok, TIME OUT! Why? Because you forget that Thedas is not exactly like the middle ages! How? Well, for one this world was once Elfs and Dwarfs only (at least in lands we know of - the humans come from somewhere else!), but also the Tevinter Imperium once controlled everything we know! Ferelden, Orlais, Nevarra, Kirkwall, Starkhaven, Antiva etc....people moved and mingled (hell, some are Elf-Blooded like Alistair, who's mother is Fiona!), so you don't have fixed Ethnicities in a certain area! There is no "Blacks are all from Tevinter" or "Asians are all from the free cities"...nope!

That's incorrect. Skintones were absolutely linked to geographic region in Origins and 2, it only started getting messed up in Inquisition.
