Extra info During Origins: You can also recruit Shale, a sentient Golem who was once a female dwarf and if you take her with you when you meet Caridin, you can recover her memories in one of the old abandoned dwarf thaigs. Plus, Logaine hires assassins of the famous Antivan Crows to kill the Warden and co., one of whom, an elf named Zevran Arainai can come with you. While you're in the Circle on Lake Calenhad, you also can recruit one of the Senior Enchanters, an aging woman named Wynne. In the Awakening DLC story, the Warden becomes Warden Commander of the Ferelden Wardens, using Arl Howe's old stronghold of Amaranthine as their base, accompanied by female knight Ser Mhairi. With the new Warden recruits from Orlais having gone missing, the player recruits Anders and Oghren into the Wardens to help out, though Mhairi doesn't survive the Joining. Through the story you can also recruit Legion of the Dead dwarf Sigrun, Arl Howe's wayward son Nathaniel, a Spirit of Justice that somehow escapes the Fade, and Dalish elf Velanna, all of whom become Grey Wardens too. The foe of the story is an army of slightly more intelligent Darkspawn, led by a powerful broodmother named simply The Mother, who are actually the spawn of The Architect, one of the mages who entered the Fade in an attempt to reach the Golden City. You can side with either one, but the outcome is the same, the Darkspawn are once again defeated. During II: Hawke's siblings are Carver and Bethany, a warrior and a mage respectively. If you choose to be a warrior or a rogue, Carver dies, and if you choose to be a mage, Bethany dies. Sebastian Vael is the exiled Prince of Starkhaven, another of the city states of the Free Marches, whose family was murdered by a usurper, and will become a member of Hawke's party if you complete a quest for him. Two other recruits in Hawke's party are an escaped slave elf from Tevinter named Fenris and a Rivaini pirate captain Isabela, the latter's actions being partly responsible for the Qunari occupation of Kirkwall. If you let Anders live after the Chantry blows up, Sebastian will leave the party and vow vengeance on Kirkwall. If you have become friendly enough with any and all your party members, they won't leave no matter which side of the conflict you pick. One you can't control is that, if you side with the Templars, Anders will leave for sure. If Carver lives to see this, he will either be a Templar or a neutral Grey Warden, but if he's a Templar, he will turn against Meredith out of loyalty to his sibling. If Bethany lives instead, she will either be a Warden or a Circle Mage, in which you can choose to let Meredith execute her or stand up for your sister in defense. In two DLCs, you can go on a Wyvern hunt in Orlais which leads to a Qunari conspiracy alongside Qunari elf Tallis and head to a distant fortress to discover the truth of Hawke's father and battle Corypheus for the first time, though the Magister isn't killed in the battle as he possesses a Grey Warden and escapes right under Hawke's nose. During Inquisition: Sir Delrin Barris or Grand Enchanter Fiona will be at Skyhold if you recruit either Templars or Mages. The ones you don't save either become Red Templars or Venatori. It also leads to the recruitment of Cole, a Spirit of Compassion in the body of a Mage from Orlais, or Dorian Pavus, your recruiting choice determining who you meet first. There's another in-game story where you move through the lands of the Avvar people, confront a radical group called the Jaws of Hakkon, and discover the truth of the first Inquisition. When you confront Solas at the end of the Trespasser story arc, you can either tell him that you'll stop his plan or keep trying to convince him his plan is wrong. At the very end, the one-handed Inquisitor meets with Cassandra, Leliana, and Leliana's dwarven scout Lace Harding, where they make plans to counter the Agents of Fen'Harel, whatever their plans may be, by finding forces Solas isn't familiar with, setting their sights on the Tevinter Imperium.

I heard that in the events surrounding Origins, the Warden first went to the Circle of Magi, before Redcliff. This may have been due to permanent stat buffs in the Fade, but the history is a little shrouded! (If you know, you know 😅😉)

That's not what they said at all. The blight was created during the war with the Titans and the Evanuris tried to weaponize it, but Solas trapped the source of it in the Evanuris palace, which turned into the Black City. Then millenia later the five magisters tried to break in, thinking it was the seat of the Maker.

Hey, so let’s clear this up: there's nothing in the lore saying Solas trapped it. Sure, it was in the Golden City before those Magisters crashed the party. Dive into The Sha-Brytol for more on The Forgotten Ones and The Old Gods-totally separate from Elven Gods. A Titan might've been involved since it's hinted one got hit by the Blight, but what's fuzzy is whether that's thanks to The Old Ones or just Red Lyrium going wild. Don't mislead newbies into thinking it stems from some Titan-Elf war-that stuff happened way earlier. Unless you’ve got receipts proving otherwise, I’m all ears!

@anonvoila4883 I do have receipts. Rook: the rest of the blight is imprisoned? There's more than there is in the world already? Solas: Yes. Centuries ago, the magisters of Tevinter opened my prison. A tiny fragment of the Blight escaped. That fragment grew beneath the earth and led to the Blights that swept across the world. However terrible the Blight is now, it is a mere fraction of what we will see if its full power is unleashed. Rook: the Blight didn't escape with the gods? Solas: Elgarnon and Ghilanain escaped largely empty handed fortunately. Most of the Blight is still trapped in the prison I created ages ago. And then there's Scout Harding's quest line which is all about how the First born elves started off as spirits but wanted physical bodies and needed lyrium to do so. So they began a war with the Titans to extract the lyrium from their body. In doing so, they ripped out their souls, which is why dwarves can't dream or cast magic. The souls of the Titans became blighted in their anguish , creating the Blight and red lyrium.

No disrespect, but I can't take anything seriously from writers who focused more on gender issues than on telling the story that has been carefully curated over the years. I am a Dragon Age fanatic that has consumed very piece of dragon age media ever made. After two weeks of not touching grass, putting in two playthroughs into this new game, I can say that Veilguard does a beautiful job weaving a tapestry that honors and builds on previous lore in a concise and organic way, even paying off what appeared to be throwaway lines from Inquisition, which now turns out to be beautifully prophetic ones instead. David Gaider and Patrick Weekes clearly had a game plan from the beginning, and it makes Inquisition even more replayable afterward. The fact that you fell back on sensationalized phrases that this game prioritizes gender politics over curative storytelling, tells me that you haven't engaged with this game in a meaningful way, which is your perogative. But the reality is it's the internet that prioritizes gender politics over curative storytelling. All the "gender stuff" is relegated to one companion, and takes up maybe 2 hours of this 55 hour game, and it never crosses over with the main plot or established lore of the main plot. It's easily the worst writing in the game, don't get me wrong, but it's a drop in the bucket. Also, I follow David Gaider on all his socials and even his blog. He's done nothing but defend the game's right to exist and the team behind it. Unless you got receipts to prove otherwise.

Here are the major choices I consistently make across all my playthroughs of Origins and Inquisition (would add 2, but it's been years since I played it) Spare both Connor and Isolde by going to the Circle for an exorcism (I generally complete the other treaty storylines first) Have Zathrian free the werewolves from the curse. Side with the mages at the Circle. Side with Caridin and Bhelen in Orzammar. Give Cailan a funeral at Ostagar. Kill possessed Sophia and then execute Avernus at Soldier's Peak. Romance Leliana. Execute Loghain and have Alistair and Anora rule together (after hardening Alistair). Took part in Morrigan's ritual. Recruited the mages at Redcliffe. Recruited the Wardens at Adamant. Declared peace between the three factions at Halamshiral. Let Morrigan drink from the Well. Romance either Josephine or Dorian. Have a hardened Leliana become Divine. Let Solas go and promise to redeem him. Place the Inquisition under the Divine's control.

It's not Dragon Age without the Grey Warden, they were the ones that catapulted the story and they are the main character. Although I like DA2, it's not a continuation of the Dragon Age Origin which implied that it was the origin story of the Grey Warden. DAI is more like "World of Thedas" which again didn't continue the story of the Grey Warden. The main character in DAO was suppose to rebuild the Warden and was the main focus of the story only to find them as side characters in the following games. DA2 (more like Dragon Age: Kirkwall) and DAI (not DA3) are good standalone games, but it's not a Dragon Age story if the Grey Warden is not the main focus since that was the origin story was all about -- they are more like spin offs.

Origins is still the best in thr series and Awakening is one of the best expansions to a game ever. The style and aesthetic was also way better. Imo. Being a dual wield full long sword or long sword and an axe in plate armor was the coolest or a sword mage. Had some of the best villains and side characters as well. Wish the series went forward with what we do in Awakening with the architect over the whole Templar mage stuff. Always thought that should be a secondary story not a main one imo at least.

I gave Dragon Age 2 a lot of criticism over the years due to how rushed it felt when compared to its predecessor Origins. Never in my life would I think that its writing was going to be the second best in the franchise given the crap they would try and get away with in Inquisition and Veilguard. If only the Arashok could turn up to fix Bioware alas 'FIXING YOUR MESS IS NOT THE DEMAND OF THE QUN! AND YOU SHOULD ALL BE GRATEFUL!'

Inquisition feels like a proper Dragon Age game and I find the characters a lot more interesting and in depth than 2.

@@Godwave_ You do realise there are plenty of in depth reviews and many hours long livestreams at this point, so anyone could easily see this for themselves. Yes, Veilguard is not a faithful Dragon Age game, its Dragon Age in name only. They had a very cool grim dark, low fantasy game made for mature audiences and changed in to a high fantasy (too the point where all classes use over the top magical powers, even warriors ffs), over the top action game, with childish cartoon art style (Ghostbusters style shades and demons with purple RGB lighting for example...) and modern era Californian gender politics forced down your throat... Veilguard is to Dragon age what that trainwreck Rings of Power is to Lord of the Rings. If its a game which appeals to you, more power to you. I hope you enjoy it. But to me and many fans of Dragon Age, this game is a massive disappointment.

I absolutely loved Origins & its expansion Awakening. Excellent grim dark setting and story, with genuinely impactful decisions, interesting companions & deep character build customisation and a party AI tactics system which was excellent, but sadly it was severely neutered in the sequels never to fully return. DA2 was mechanically a fairly mediocre game, but the more interpersonal story set over multiple years following Hawke was pretty cool. My Hawke was a mage, so I was crucial in the founding and supporting of the Kirkwall mage rebellion. However, I hated the amount of times key mages proved the Templars right by resorting to blood magic and summoning demons. DA Inquisition was a fun game. I enjoyed it for what it was, although I found the combat and especially the companion ai utterly frustrating. The AI was totally brain-dead, leading to the player needing to constantly baby sit them to ensure they do something useful in major fights. If the Origins party tactics system had been included I would have rated Inquisition far higher. Veilguard looks absolutely awful & I have zero intention of ever playing it. They turned a very cool grim dark, low fantasy game mate for mature audiences and changed in to a high fantasy, over the top action game, with a childish Disney style art style. Companions are little more than brain dead extra skill slots & because it was made by activists, it insufferably forces modern day gender politics down your throat... I can see a lot of people have bought it and 79% of Steam user reviews are positive so it has found and audience. But its not for me, I am genuinely disgusted at just how badly this iteration of Bioware has ruined a franchise I loved. Because of this, I have zero faith in the competence of the studio's future projects. If they do this same thing to the next Mass Effect game, I am boycotting any future Bioware products.

That's objectively incorrect, there are lots of choices in 1 and 2 that have an effect on 3. Morrigan having a child, who the king is; lots of smaller stuff.

None of that matters now; only your inquisition choices matter which you do in game not on the keep which is now defunct. The first two games if they impact this game at all, are stock story and endings for the two. @@osirisatot19

It’s a shame, sweet baby and woke. Activists are trying to destroy everything that we hold precious, and dearest to us. Apparently they believe that they can butcher everything and then name of representation for a “modern audience”. It’s truly a shame because last year I was hoping Vail guard would be good then information started to spill out about the game and it felt like a absolute betrayal, not only to the franchise as a whole and previous games, but to the fans the very community that loves these games and their story and lore.
