These are the same people who still criticize that for having bad character design and being uninspired. The fact of the matter is Concords gameplay wasn't the problem with Concord. Also someone disagreeing with you or having a different opinion than you doesn't mean they're being dishonest. If you can't deal with people who disagree with you or who don't think like you then move on.

@@Grimjr7 Factually wrong, tons of people who played complained about many GAMEPLAY issues, from spawns, map size, character abilities, weapon design, and literally etc. Im glad you like to defend things but you're just wrong, concord had a ton of issues, bad character design just buried it cause no one cared to see those characters be fixed.

I’m definitely going to wait a few weeks, maybe even until next year, before I decide on picking this up. The trailers, gameplay and articles have made me feel like this is a game based loosely on the world of Dragon Age; by that, I mean everything from story, visuals, character story arcs and mainly, the gameplay, has moved away from what Dragon Age is. DA Origins will always be one of my favorite games, and Inquisition, though not a big blockbuster, is also up there. These two games are where my expectations are at. Dragon Age 2 had by far my favorite character though, and that is the Arishok. He made me enjoy the mysterious Qunari; and now they seem to be just humans with horns. Even the Elves seem to be human with Elf ears, and no longer their tall and slender look. The main part to this, and any game for that matter, is the gameplay. They went full Mass Effect and took away what made Dragon Age, well, Dragon Age. The whole not controlling your party, reduction of party members, the reduction of powers and the tactical top down screen are all gone. It was fine for Mass Effect for it is a game that relies on firing a gun that you always had, taking cover, using powers and using your party. Dragon Age is not that. As a Warrior, you don’t hide behind cover. You are the cover. And the jumping around (as a Warrior) just breaks the immersion of that class. They seem to have the agility of a Rogue. If the classes instead had better evasion animations, I could see it. A Warrior should be able to raise their shield to prepare deflect the hits or absorb them; a Mage should use a type of deflection shield that they can conjure up; and the Rogue can keep the whole jumping and flipping around to evade hits. Dragon Age seems to become a whole different style of game that just uses the Dragon Age title. So, I will just wait until I watch content creators play and give their opinion, for we all know magazines will rate this game high, no matter how good or bad it is (especially IGN)

It's funny, a lot of the things you said at the bottom of your comment about how the rogue mage and warrior should be able to fight. Evasively in their own styles. All that stuff you described is in the game so either you didn't watch enough info or you weren't paying attention. I seen the mage. They're like orb shield thing around them. The warrior can block and Perry attacked with their shield and the rogue is super evasive. But when it comes with a rogue, I don't exactly understand what they're doing. That's special. It might be that they have like multiple Dodges or something I don't know. But the warrior can block and Perry and the mage can make a orb shield. To tell you I didn't read your entire comment. It was very long. I read like that bottom half of it but based on the bottom half and how much stuff you thought wasn't in the game that was I would probably take a guess. Guess that there's probably some stuff all throughout your comment that you missed that you don't think is in the game that actually is. Elves in dragon age aren't tall. They're just slender. They're human size but super skinny.

@@Grimjr7 No. I have watched all of the videos. The mage making a shield is an ability. Mages did have to the shadow walk dashing, though that was based on the tree you went with. The Warrior had the roll ability in Inquisition. Which should just be a block animation. Rogues had the leap, which seems to also be used by the Warrior. Everything is just screaming a 4/10.

I still can't believe how much they've changed/removed from the franchise DNA. Only 3 companions instead of 4 and you cant take control of them, but you do have to issue them commands if you want to make the most of their abilities. Add that to the fact that all the characters look like they're made out of playdough and the enemies look goofy AF. This whole game just seems like a huge downgrade for the series.

I still can't get used to the smooth faces (especially that Qunari megamind!) and facial animations, but I really like the environment and would love to explore some locations a bit before launch (it doesn't look like they'll be releasing a demo, though). The gameplay changes were also a bit disappointing at first, as I'm more into slower, Origins-like gameplay where you can control each character. On the other hand, I think a lot of people wouldn't be happy if the gameplay didn't change from what we had in, say, Inquisition, so I hope I'll like it in the end! And it would be great to hide as many UI elements as possible, I'd love to get rid of those combo indicators, figure out more stuff myself. I'm looking forward to trying the game on Nightmare difficulty to see if it's really as oversimplified as I sometimes think it is. Hopefully I'm wrong! I still have my doubts, but I try to stay optimistic at the same time

All the times I saw ppl disappointed by the gameplay of Veilguard being different compared to Origins (which was released around 15 years ago) reminds me of back when Baldur's Gate 3 was still in early access and there were ppl who criticised it for playing more like a sequel to Divinity Original Sin 2 than Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 (which was 22 and 20 years old respectively by the time of BG3's early access release) No offense to you or anybody who loves Origins gameplay but you had to have expected the changes to gameplay styles already since no 2 DA games play similar, they change the style and speed of gameplay with each iteration.

Like I would understand these arguments about origins if that game was the last game they made but that was the first game they made and then they made two other after it. Every game since origins has been moving away from origin style gameplay.

Why are the ability slots in the middle of the screen and not in the right corner like the previous games ? It's kind of blocking our eyes to enjoy what's happening behind the slots :(

That same logic would apply. The slots were anywhere on the screen. They would always be blocking something. That just seems like a nothing of a criticism. You're mad that the icons are blocking the bottom middle of the screen versus blocking the bottom right of the screen. They're still blocking a part of the screen. There's no guarantee that something's going to be at the bottom middle of the screen. That's super important versus the bottom right since the camera can be rotated. Also, only the held bar remains when you're not in combat everything else on the screen except for the top right and bottom left of the screen has anything on it which is your quest at the top right in your health at the bottom left. Just running around. Not fighting anybody. There's nothing else on the screen. Like I said, it's a nothing of a criticism.

The slots being big and at the bottom center of the screen are hiding a part of the view. That's why until now in the previous games they were on the side. It's not just criticism. Usually in games this kind of obstruating elements are on the side of the screen. It's for a reason. Or if they are in the center, they are not that big.

I actually like the combat style, being able to block and parry, using magic, abilities, buffs, primers, and detonators on the back end. While I love Inquisition, the weakest, most annoying thing about it to me was the combat. I got sick of "babysitting" my companions in battle, pressing "down" or "up" on the D-pad to switch to them to give them healing and buff potions because they wouldn't use them freely or when they really needed them, then switching back to my Inquisitor which could easily have died while I'm tending to the others. At least in Veilguard, the companions seem to hold their own better and I get to fight in an action combat style.

Meh this game is 14 years old right and 2 generations behind right out the box. I’m burnt out on these PS4 games trying to be PS5 games because they use SOME Ray tracing at best. Over the past 5 years or more it’s been horrible release after horrible release and none of the games look or play any better (except Black Myth: Wukong) than games released over 10 years ago. THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME and have been releasing completely broken. Copy/paste mechanics and systems and just nothing new or exciting about these games. We have all had our PS5’s, Xbox Series X’s, and upgraded PC’s for years now and we STILL haven’t had any games for them released. We know they are out there, we know what a game looks and feels like with Metahuman and nanopixel technology. We also know by the time we get those game they too will be a generation behind. PS5 Pro release means we are within a few years of the PS6. Give me one good reason to buy a PS6 when you’re releasing games like Star Wars Outlaws that could almost run on a PS4. Probably a PS4 Pro for sure.

The only reason I'm hesitant on this game is the combat. I'm not a fan of interrupting the flow of combat and that cluttered tactical wheel is exactly that. Just let me do the cool combos and spells without pausing combat 😭

Characters look soft, UI looks like a mobile game, Quinari redesign is terrible, the special effects for attacks have too much light and/or spectacle added to them to which could cover up gameplay that could seem unpolished, and the companion functionalities in this title are inferior to previous installments. Tbh thus will probably be the worst DA and that's with having DA2

Idk I’m still skeptical. Maybe the gameplay is decent and fun. But Dragon Age is about more than just combat. If they butcher the world then it doesn’t really matter. BioWare IPs were also loved for their universe and narratives. It is just as important I’d say. Hope I’m pleasantly surprised but not holding my breath.
