If you want a refresher on Dragon Ball, do NOT watch Abridged for that reason. Despite it's name, it doesn't actually abridge the series, it's more of a parody of SPECIFICALLY the Saiyan, Frieza, and Cell sagas. It doesn't cover OG or Buu, and there's a handful of things that are purposely incorrect for comedic reasons. If you want a refresher, start from OG, continue into DBZ Kai since that series cuts the filler, and either go into GT (non-canon) or Super (canon). All of the OG and DBZ movies are non-canon, so you can watch them at any time honestly, except for a few: - Bardock Father of Goku takes place before OG - History of Trunks takes place after Frieza but before Cell - Yo Son Goku and His Friends Return happens during the timeskip between the end of Buu and the beginning of Super - A Hero's Legacy takes place after GT, but it aired during the middle of the series - DBS Superhero takes place AFTER the Super anime AND DBS Broly No clue on Daima's placement yet, but we'll find out soon.

Canonically, characters like Nappa and Yamcha wouldn't touch Goku or Vegeta, but in the hands of good players they can even beat someone playing with Gogeta or Beerus, but the Sparking/Budokai Tenkaichi games go the extra mile to make it closer to the anime by making the weaker characters more difficult to win with and the stronger ones easier unlike traditional fighting games like Tekken or Street Fighter that puts everyone on equal footing.

@@empanadadegato I’m pretty sure it is canon since it was based on a concept Toriyama himself came up with. Tarble is later mentioned in Battle of Gods and DBS Broly meaning they met him already (aka Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return!) plus both of those movies were directly made by Toriyama. They released a manga adaptation of the OVA as well. The only reason it wasn’t in the manga was because of two things. It came out 12 years after DBZ ended so of course it wasn’t in the DBZ manga and the reason it wasn’t in DBS manga was because the OVA happens before Battle of Gods which is what they chose to start DBS anime and manga with. The fact Toriyama chooses to have characters bring up Tarble in movies he was in charge of making and the OVA was based on a story concept he made proves it’s canon.

So, in terms of fusion methods, it is kinda complicated as there is no definitive proof to how the math works. I'll try to explain it the best I can. Potara Fusion is: (A+B) x (the two users potential multiplier, this is where things start to get confusing as this number is said to be in the 10s of multiplier, but the exact number depends on the people fusing) Fusion Dance is: (A+A) x (the two users potential multiplier, this is where things start to get confusing as this number is said to be in the 10s of multiplier, but the exact number depends on the people fusing) The real difference here is the (A+B) vs (A+A). Potara Fusion allows anyone to fuse, and the two people's power levels are added together and multiplied. Fusion Dance requires the power levels to be in sync with each other, so the stronger person would have to drop their output to match the weaker person. So which is stronger? It depends on the people fusing. If we use Goku and Vegeta in both fusions, they should receive the same multiplier, so all that is left if whether or not their powers are exactly the same before fusion. If Goku is stronger than Vegeta, or vice versa, then Vegito (Potara) would be slightly stronger because no one has to drop their power level down to fuse (Fusion Dance). Now, if both users have the same power level, then both fusions should be the same power level. Here is where it gets trickier, which is better? While Potara is stronger in most cases, it comes with a drawback, which is the more raw power the fusion has, the shorter the fusion will last, whereas the Fusion Dance is always 30 minutes. So, which is better depends on the fight. As of Dragon Ball Super, due to how strong Goku and Vegeta are, if Vegeto can win the fight in under 30 minutes, then that is the better pick, if he can't, then Gogeta is the better pick. I think this is the easiest way to explain it. Potara is stronger, but can be a shorter fusion, Fusion Dance is a little weaker, but has a consistent fusion length. So that this is such a long comment lol

The fusion dance also has its duration shortend if you use too much power. If I remember correctly, SSJ3 Gotenks and SSJ4 Gogeta lasted way shorter than 30 minutes, it even caught them off guard when they suddenly defused way before the time limit. But I believe that it isn't as extreme of a decrease as the potara, but it still gets a decreased time limit if they're using way to much power.

@@jkb4566 I went back and watched the episodes. I will have 2 replies, one based on episodes and my thoughts on the Fusion Dance being shortened, second one will contain math as to why I think this. Gotenks didn't end before the 30 minutes. They went SSJ while in the Room of Spirit and Time, while trapped there they went SSJ3 to escape the dimension by yelling. They then went to engage Buu again. During the fight they actually lost the ability to keep SSJ3 going, right as he was preparing to try to kill Buu, Gotenks reverted back to base form from SSJ3. They ran out of time while getting their ass handed to them while in base form. There is no indication that power shortened their time, it is heavily implied that Gotenks wasted a lot of time being arrogant. Episodes 260-262 if you want to see for yourself. As for SSJ4 Gogeta, yes the fusion ended under 10 minutes and it is said that the fusion ended do to the power level of SSJ4. But as GT is not canon, we can't say for sure that this would be the case. Reason I say this is two fold. 1) If we look at base form Goku and Vegeta in Super and GT at these points, Super versions are actually stronger. 2) This is the most important factor, SSJ God multiplier is massively larger than SSJ4 multiplier. Yes, SSJ4 Gogeta lasted under 10 minutes, but SSJ Blue Gogeta did not, and he is a far stronger version. (I will do the math in a second post to show my reasoning.)

My reasoning for why the Fusion Dance timer being shorter making no sense. Let’s start of with what we know: SSJ is 50x Base, SSJ2 is 100x Base, and SSJ3 is 400x Base. These are the official multipliers. We know that the Fusion at SSJ3 (which is a 400x Base) was not affected. Let’s look at GT. Now, SSJ4 is said to be 10x stronger than SSJ3, which makes it 4,000x Base. If we use the formula for fusion (A+B x some multiple of 10), this would mean that the fusion if any character is at least 20x. I will only use this lowballed multiplier because regardless of the what the multiple is, it would be the same for Goku and Vegeta regardless. So, with fusion we would have 4,000x Base + 4,000x Base x 20 for fusion, making SSJ4 Gogeta at least 80,000x the base of Goku or Vegeta. This form lasted about 10 minutes or so. So, the fusion at 80,000x Base was shortened to under 10 minutes. Now, let’s look at Super, this is where we need to use some math to calculate how strong Gogeta is in Broly, because Gogeta Blue was not shown to be affected by a time limit. In Battle of Gods, SSJ3 could not even touch Beerus. In order to compete with Beerus SSJ God must be stronger than any know fusion, if not, they would have just fused to fight Beerus, and even in the movie Goku says that fusion would not be strong enough to beat Beerus. If Vegeta and Goku fused, their base form would be at least 20x stronger than either of their base forms alone, which means if the fusion can go SSJ2, this would make the fusion 2,000x Goku's or Vegeta's base (their base x 20 for fusion x 100 for SSJ2). If Goku thinks the Fusion has access to SSJ3, then this would make the fusion 8,000x Goku's or Vegeta's base (their base x 20 for fusion x 400 for SSJ3). So, in order to contend with Beerus, SSJ God needs to be well over 2,000x Goku's Base (maybe even over 8,000x Goku's base). So, if SSJ God needs to be stronger than any fusion to compete with Beerus, and it needs to be over over 2,000x - 8,000x stronger than Goku's base form. Then we can get an idea of what the power of SSJ Blue is. If we use the lower number of 2,000x base, SSJ Blue is 50x that, making SSJ Blue at least 100,000x base form Goku. Now if we add the fusion multiplier of 20x, this makes Gogeta Blue 2,000,000x base Goku or Vegeta. But, if we take into consideration that SSJ God needed to be stronger than the fusion at SSJ3, then we take 8,000x base, SSJ Blue is 50x that, making SSJ Blue at least 400,000x base form Goku. Now if we add the fusion multiplier of 20x, this would put Gogeta Blue 8,000,000x base Goku or Vegeta. So, Gogeta Blue is 2,000,000 to 8,000,000 times stronger than base Goku or Vegeta, which makes Gogeta Blue is, 25x to 100x stronger than SSJ4 Gogeta, and yet Gogeta Blue was not affected by a time limit.

Another thing I remembered, is that the Potara fusion is permanent for Supreme Kais, and maybe just Kais in general, I don't remember if it is both. It was the reason that it was believed to be permanent at first. The Fusion Dance could also just be effected by the strain of the power more so than the amount of power itself. I know GT isn't cannon, but they couldn't fuse again because Goku couldn't keep up the SSJ4 form, I also said that it might not just effect the time limit as much as the Potara. But the point still stands that there isn't any cannon evidence for it affecting the time limit, so I guess your point still stands.

The reason Goku is a kid again in GT is because the Pilaf Gang, his oldest "enemies" from when Dragon Ball was still mostly a gag manga, were looking for the Dragon Balls on Kami's Lookout, where Goku and Uub were training at the time, and when they found a different set of balls, the Black-Star Dragon Balls, they ran into Goku and accidentally wished him into being a weak little kid again, only to be granted by a bigger, red dragon named Ultimate Shenron. The Black-Star balls were made when Kami and Demon King Piccolo were still one person, and only came back into existence when Piccolo fused with Kami during the Android Saga in Z. They don't have a year long refresh timer like the normal balls, but they scatter throughout space and have to be returned to the exact spot the last wish was made, or else the planet they were wished upon at will blow up after a year. And because there's no cooldown timer, you can just gather them up and keep using it whenever you have them, so long as you're willing (or unaware) to blow up the planet in question.

15 Dragon Ball Z movies actually. Dragon Ball Super Episodes 1-27 actually "recaps" what happened in DBZ movies 14 (Battle of Gods) and 15 (Resurrection "F") and adds their own little spin on things. The only movie that is missing in this lineup is the Bio-Broly movie which I'm pretty sure not many are complaining about.

potara(earings) is the higher quality fusion and easier to perform the fusion dance requires both parties to equalize their power and perform the dance exactly while the potara takes the true power of both fighters so in the instance of goku and vegeta their fusions are basically the same because they are already almost equal in power but if say goku and piccolo fused potara would be stronger because goku wouldnt need to lower his power to piccolo's level as he would for the fusion dance

GT was the original sequel to Dragon Ball before being replaced by Super. At the beginning Goku become younger because of a wish. And yes he is a Grandpa. Baby is an alien parasite who steal people body and is most famous incarnation is with Vegeta Body. The Shenron you see here is the final vilain of the series, he born from a overused of the Dragon Ball. Gt is actually a great serie with some default but also a lot of qualities. Super Saiyan 4 is one of the best thing in the whole series, have a nice art style and bring a great ending to the Dragon Ball.

People probably already explained, but the fusions are equal. Back in the days Vegitto was considered the strongest because elder Kai said so, but then it was contradicted by a lot of promotional materials for Broly movie stating that they are equal. Also, Gero was a scientist in the Red Ribbon army, and he hates Goku because he demolished it in the original DB as a kid.

It's an endless debate whether Potara (Earring) Fusion or Metamoran (Dance) Fusion is stronger, "retcons" to the Potara in Dragon Ball Super make it less clear and Gogeta being non-canon in most of his appearances (Fusion Reborn, GT etc) and only canon in the Broly movie make it sketchy, but I think after film it has to be the dance fusion, Full-force SS1 Broly was outrageously strong and Gogeta Blue beat him without sustaining a single hit, whereas Vegito has had dominant performances against Zamasu, but not on that scale imo. I think Dance Fusion is stronger, but it only lasts 30 minutes where Potara lasts an hour now

in the past the difference between the two fusions was bigger, now adays they are closer but the potara (earrings) fusion is still stronger because for the dance fusion you have to perfectly match your powerlevels so the stronger guy wouldnt be at full power. For potara you dont have that. Also the dance fusion can fail tif you mess up, the potara fusion cant

Potara fusion requires no restriction, so goku can remain at full power, with the fusion dance, Goku has to lower his power to match Vegeta's. making the fusion slightly weaker. but where gogeta wins is using his power doesn't shorten his fusion, while Vegito's does. so Vegito is stronger but shortens fusion

Dragonball is an easy to get into franchise, the games revolve around decimating your opponent/s and the show is basically Goku VS the whole damn Cosmos. ever since he was a little shit living in the boonies, he's been fighting threats both within and oiutside his world. i hope that in checking Dragonball as a franchise, you are starting from the OG, which is underrated imo, since it starts out so humble.

14:15 in the original DBZ manga/Anime the Potara Earrings was Stronger than the fusion Dance. In DragonBall Super they basically retconned it, so now they are more equal to each other. They also retconned/nerfed the earrings even more. Before the earrings was Permanent, once you fused you can never undue it. They changed it to where it only lasts 1 hour (or Permanent under the condition that you fuse with a diety)
