Again, it wasn't Tate. When a key animator is uncredited, things get more difficult. But, starting with 187, Shimanuki would also be credited in the episodes he supervised. After all, he's one of the most recognizable animators, thanks to his debris and shaking impact. When you start learning DB artstyles, his name mustn't be overlooked.

DBanimators Thanks a lot for this. Is it still unknown why, even with 9 weeks, he did such a mediocre job on the latest episode he animated for Super? I know it was the first half and all but... And I think that'll probably be his last.

It's become abundantly clear that the time animators have to work on Super is much shorter than we think. There may have been 7 weeks between Shimanuki's episodes, but he may not have actually had 7 weeks to work on it.

His artstyle in Z was one of the best, in Super it's not so much anymore.

MrSoftwizard I think his art is still solid at best, it still has that recognizable look like it did in Z, his effects are also really good, the problem is his animation with characters lacks the smoothness it needs, you see a lot with him, if you pause and look at the frames, in movement the characters will go from one place to the next or change angles awkwardly in just 2 frames, if he fills in that space with the movement it needs and added a bit more expression with the movements of the characters he would be a fantastic animator and not just average, then again these episodes come with time constraints so on his own he could do some really cool stuff.

Yeah, his movement for characters is not exactly fluid but he makes creative use of shortcuts and his storyboarding is very dynamic. He also has top-tier special effects.

I really wish his output on Super was half this good. His key animation is now really stubby and basic. Not nearly as expressive as the days of old. However, his work on Goku vs 'Monaka' was really nice and very him.

Maybe it's my nostalgia showing, but I just *adore* his work on 231. His Goku v Majin Vegeta stuff is my absolute favorite work from him! God, I hope if/when Dragon Ball returns to television that he gets a chance to shine again.

It's not nostalgia, it's just common sense. That cut is of course superlative, and I doubt he'll reach his past level work.

You know I never understood why the majority of DB animators get rusty after time has passed. I get scheduling issues but I'd need to see more of their work outside of that dilemma to make a solid judgement as to whether or not they still got it. Look at Glen keane. Still killing it. From beauty and the beast to the kobe short.

Excelente animador Shimanuki, su estilo en DBZ era mas angular y epico,genial , espero que ahora que DBS tendra su pausa temporal vaya practicando y recupere ese estilo brutal,genial que tenia en DBZ, ya q en shimanuki en DBS no fue tan bueno ya q solamente se ha limitado a tirar explosiones lo cual son geniales pero yo quiero verlo haciendo golpes de cuerpo a cuerpo como en DBZ con esos impactos de brutalidad a lo TATE

@@marinoski8 de ser mediocre, puede que lo sea, pero de tener momentos épicos, hay por todos lados y no le puedes desacreditar eso. En cuanto a términos de animación, Z se ve ampliamente superado si tomamos en cuenta lo apresurada que es la producción de un capítulo a comparación de Z. Además, hay grandes talentos que pueden impregnar los diseños de yamamuro de la saga de Boo como Yuya Takahashi, Tu Yong Ce, Hirotaka Nii o Yuichi Karasawa.
