An excellent "same name" card for Dragon's Approach decks is Locket of Yesterdays, which reduces the mana cost of each Dragon's Approach by 1 colorless for each copy you have in your graveyard. It's very easy to get to the point where you're casting Dragon's Approach for 1 red mana, allowing you to storm off really fast.

I love it, I had a lot of similar thoughts about how Dragon's Approach gives you this unique space to explore in edh. I personally went with mono red with Neheb, the Eternal because I like the pseudo ritual effect.

When I saw Dragon's Approach I thought it might be fun to build a Nekusar deck that wants to wheel as much Dragon's Approach's into the graveyard as possible so I could use the second ability to tutor up silver bullet dragons.

Knollspine Dragon seems like a good target for the Dragon's Approaches as well. Dack Fayden also seems like a good fit in here. Also Guttersnipe might just be better than Torbran here..

i ended up Building a Dragon's Approach deck with Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion. the idea is to fill my graveyard (in mono red no less) with copies of Dragon's approach to tutor out dragons for the most part and also deal incidental damage to my opponents which i think is a perfect fit for an otherwise combat focused commander. Though honestly, the dream here is to get 14 copies of Dragon's Approach in my graveyard and resolve an overloaded Mizzix's Mastery.

I built an approach deck with veyran. Put all the artifact tutors to get thrumming stone and now each approach gets ripple 8.

I like your aproach (pun intended) to this deck. Personally when i saw the card, i immediately thought of a magda deck that can use treasures to tutor thrumming stone and win by just casting dragons aproaches. But maybe the games would be too samey so yours is propably more fun

Hypersonic Dragon is also good because it allows you to cast your Dragon's Approach as if it had flash, which is nuts!

Treasonous Ogre seems great in this list since you can tutor him with Arcane Adaptation on the field. (Edit: Birgi, God of Storytelling and Storm-Kiln Artist can work as well.)

Lol, this is a burn deck! It reminds me of the stories of playing magic before the "4 of each card" rule, and the best deck was just 20 lands and 40 lightning bolts 😭

I like this deck. There are some infinites if you throw in a steamkin, a Birgi and/or a storm-kiln artist. If you have a card like locket of yesterdays or arcane melee out and one of these, you can cast as many dragon's approaches as you have in your hand. Every cast will get you a red mana, either from a treasure or from the birgi trigger or the steamkin activation. Also, for spellslinger, might consider replacing tyrant's familiar with hypersonic dragon. Kind of a fun piece of jank that lets you trick your opponents into thinking you are keeping up counter spells and then you flash out your approaches for a sudden victory

Rummaging would help put some approach's in the graveyard to help summon. Maybe a rummaging goblin and thrill of possibility? Seems like a fun time for everyone involved though!

I used Yurlok of Scorch Thrash for mine. His ability pays for at least one Dragon's Approach each turn, which I found useful. Plus Jund gives you access to a good chunk of draggers

I love this deck, BUT my choice of commander would be different. I'd go with Kykar winds fury. Its basically the same thing as your deck except you have the various Jeskai "whenever you cast a non creature spell draw" effects. You can always cast it with reduced cost from kykar mana, and draw a ton from the on cast effects to keep the engine going.

@@edhdeckbuilding Thats what kykar is for. Generating red mana for each subsequent dragon's approach cast. Since the red pip is taken care of, your mana pool's colours doesnt really matter since they always pay for the colourless part.

Surprised to not see more cost reducers like Goblin Electromancer. Going from 6 to 4 mana to play two in a turn is really good. And additional card draw like Archmage Emeritus, which of course works with the copying effects too.

What about play this deck with white on It ? Like with kykar or gnostro, we lose the value of jori but kykar give tokens and mana, gnostro give scry, life and gestion so i like It pretty much. White also give access to whirlwind of thought, soulfire grand Master, the classics Land tax and smothering tithe, thrilling discovery that i love... All the White gestion like sword to plowshare, wrath of god etc etc

this a pretty interesting deck list, I recently built a dragons approach deck. my goal building the deck was burn fast, and for that you need mana ramp and for mana ramp it is hard to beat Galazeth Prismari. combined with a pile of zero cost artifacts. the synergy is serious, with the right hand and draw im playing commander turn 3 burning with dragon's approach and dropping a blue draw spell. if I can draw a few more free artifacts, I can burn again or draw again. and when I search for Niv Mizzet, on turn 4 or 5, and he's burning when I draw, drawing when I cast spells, the third dragon is on its way really quickly, and when all my artifacts are tapping for counterspells too you only stop when your hands empty or everything is tapped. its a fun deck.

Spellweaver helix imprinting a seething song and approach sounds decently strong. Making 5 red every time you cast approach will pay for the next approach and leave you some extra mana every time

This is pretty much exactly what I've been working on, but I have a couple extra dragons and used a number of different cards (I don't have any Thrumming Stones, for example), but Izzet Spellslingers is the way to go - excellent build

My DA commander is Syr Carah. I only have three dragons in the deck: Red Dragon for damage, Dragon Mage and Dream Pillager for card advantage. Knollspine's ETB trigger might be better than two different damage triggers; I might replace the Pillager with it. Syr Carah is my main source of card advantage. Without her I can't really start the DA chain. If someone removes her immediately then I'm in trouble waiting for my sixth and seventh mana to recast her. Luckily her 3/3 stats look quite underwhelming, that helps to keep her alive.

I would put in a like 2 or 3 damage doubling enchantments probably, a torban, a guttersniper for extra ping and spot removal maybe. But making room for those might be difficult :c.

This sounds like a fantastic idea. I think you've got it right that since you're only going to search up 1-2 dragons a game you really only need 1-3 in the deck. It's also hilarious that such a construction allows you to include so many cards that are otherwise unplayable. One question: Did you mean to include a full deck list, as you have in other deck techs? There is currently no list in the description.

Cards that completely cripple this deck and basically make you lose the game instantly: - Invasive Surgery - Surgical Exraction - Test of Talents - Lost Legacy - Necromentia (this might actually win you the game) - Pick the Brain - Crumble to Dust - Memoricide - Reap Intellect - Slaughter Games - Kotose, the Silent Spider - Stain the Mind Secret Salvage allows you do this to yourself and bring all the cards to your own hand. If you have infinite mana, you could cast them all at once. You could also use some of these cards to willingly remove all Dragon's Approach cards from your deck in order to reduce your decksize.

I was thinking kraum because he can draw 3 cards each turn cycle pretty easy, or mizzix of the izmagnus because of his cost reduction. Once you get going, mizzix and birgi with something that says magecraft: draw just lets you go nuts casting all of them you can draw for ‘free’
