I think the pro can get away with operating in the vrr window as buyers willing to stump up for it likely have a modern hdmi2.1 display. I'll be playing mine on an lg OLED and vrr is a game changer for console gaming. I want yall to test games like these PS4 games that don't "supersample" on the PS5, on the PS5 Pro. PS4 Versions of Dead Island 2, FF7 Remake. Wait wait wait WAIT! You have to do another test on the 120hz mode. I’ve been playing for days now and it runs locked at 40fps the in all areas, as long as there is no combat involved. I’m turning the camera around like crazy and I see 0 judder, but the moment I turn 120hz off it turns into a mess. I think Alex is right, it is GPU limit at this point because it looks like the 120hz mode lowers the resolution slightly. I strongly recommend not to shy away from buying this game because of its performance if you own a 120hz screen.

FPS drops in combat are a bad thing obviously, but they don’t matter that much in this game, because the combat doesn’t take that much skill in general. Especially if you are playing spellcaster.

dude, i have a 14900K and a 4090. i hit well above 100fps on this game. this is a heavily cpu-bound game, so that may be your problem. as far as i'm aware, this game works better on a cpu with a high core count. that's why you'll see the 14900k beat out the 7800x3d on this game. 24 cores vs 8 cores. yeah, the optimization isn't great. shouldn't have to have a $600 cpu just to be able to play it. still a great game though, performance aside.

I enjoyed my time with DD2 despite the performance issues, but I wouldn't wish for any other game to be released in such a state. It's obvious this really ruined the reputation of the game, and I'm afraid Monster Hunter Wilds might go through something similar. But thank you for continuing to update us on the performance improvements. Gives me hope that maybe they can turn it around with a 'No Mans Sky' treatment, even if it might be a long shot.

no they lied to you the base ps5 runs it at 36ish fps in city with max settings and ray tracing the pro runs it at 56 to 60 in the city at max settings with ray tracing. the base ps5 CAN run it at 56 to 60 BUT it has to turn off all RT and run on low settings...... its in the video if you pause it and check what version of the game are running but if you listen to the bald guy talk he is just making shit up. cuz pc ppl are mad there best gpu runs the game same as the pro(which cost 1.6k) when the game is just unoptimized, thats why they kept making excuses ansd saying uuh it runs about the same, but the video tells you diff.

Also if u increase the FOV of the game frames droped more often. So i have the FOV as close as possible, motion blur off(ALWAYS), & before patch i had ray tracing off, but after patch it runs better when ray tracing is on. & obviously turn 30fps cap off. = Perfect Game Experience. If anyone still complains about fps there haters. They said in the vid its almost 60 fps with lower settings, & then only showed mid 30fps cuz its high graphics. If u play the gameu would now that there is no serious fps issue

Except you are though. In order for base PS5 to reach the same-ish framerate as PS5 Pro (53-60 fps), it has to lower resolution and turn settings to low. On PS5 Pro you get much higher resolution via PSSR and much higher visual settings with an even better frame rate. PS5 Pro is therefore a big improvement over PS5 for only $959.99 CAD (+13% tax).

As much as I want to see DD2 improved for everyone on PS5....gaming is a very selfish hobby and so all I need is the PS5 pro to get comfortably into the VRR range with good graphics and I will be good to go. Nothing helps the pop in of NPC's in towns ....that happens on the very best hardware money can buy and nothing currently makes the game run perfectly. So at this point i am just hoping to enjoy the 4k ouput at 50-60fps on my pro and chalk this game up as an L for Capcom on optimization.

@@Tafka25 I think the Pro is amazing if devs really use its extra capabilities, but for those who already have the base model, it’s a great hardware too!! I have been amazed by some games patched on the Pro that achieved and in few things surpassed some PC GPUs and that is a great sign for the console. But, the important thing is to enjoy on any hardware and ecosystem we feel the best to invest in and have some fun with the games we love the most!!!

SMFH They manipulated this test to CREATE a situation where PS5 performed better than PS5 Pro under completely different circumstances and loads on the systems. PS5 Pro w RT on vs PS5 with RT off then claim PS5 Pro is doing worse than PS5? So...running additional graphical features in a game suddenly mean NOTHING to DF?
