Dodoria being a woman was a brilliant decision. It creates a perfect parallel between Freeza, Zarbon and Dodoria. Dodoria looks like a monster to us, but to her people she was a supermodel. Zarbon looks hot but when he powers up he becomes bestial. Freeza alternates between androgynous, masculine and weird, and then combines them in his final form in what I think is one of the best designs ever.
