It just hit me that the Dragon Ball Z universe has the technology to put a house in a pocket-sized capsule, travel to another planet, and make an entire artificial human, but for some reason nobody could make Gohan a cybernetic limb. Might have had a better shot at victory if they Luke Skywalker'd him up.

Trunks always had it so rough. He is a guy who was trained for a bit by a guy who was trained only a bit. He didn't have a squad of friends to help him, none of the literal magic or kami/Kai's to give him ways to overcome. His world had a lonely energy that other time travel stories lacked.

Tapion didn't actually give that version of trunks his sword. In that movie trunks lived a life with Goku, Vegeta, etc. And Goten was also born so it doesn't line up

my theory is that the whole story with Hirudegarn also happened in the future timeline, but Tapion and Gohan were able to prevent his release (possibly by killing Tapion to prevent Hirudegarn’s release), and Tapion gave a young Future Trunks that sword to use when he’s older.
