i can't even begin to imagine how difficult it will be for the cast of Days to bid farewell to John Black. My thoughts have gone to Deidre Hall and Stephen Nichols the most, having had the honor of working with Drake Hogestyn for close to 40 years. The pain from that kind of loss runs deep, and for those cast members who never lost a loved one before, the emotional roller coaster will be tough to navigate.

I'm a guy, I started watching Days in the '80s when I worked nights when there was nothing else to watch on TV as I got ready for work. I've been a Days fan since and Drake was the main reason I even originally got into the show. I am very sad this week because I really liked him. I've met over 1/2 the cast during the Salem, Illinois DaysFests they had 20+ years ago. Drake was asked but couldn't come. The other cast member had so many good things to say about Drake.

Condolences to Drake’s family. I know how it hurts to lose someone you love and how you will miss him. May our Heavenly Father give them all the grace and love to see this through. You could tell Drake lobbed children, especially the love between him and Brady. I think Eric had great respect for him as well as (Brady). Love to the entire DOOLS family that have entertained me for all these years. I am 75 years old and have watched the show from the beginning. I didn’t get to see every episode in the early years because I was in school but I got to see enough to keep up. Once VCR’s came along I got to see them all.

I find Drake Hogstyn the biggest loss of recent Days stars that have passed. He had the biggest interaction with the bigger long-term actors and actresses. Bo, Hope, Steve, Kayla, Roman, Abe, Brady, Kristin, Sami to name a few. Likely missed someone on my list- Very sad. I was sorry to hear it yesterday. He had looked so frail in his recent appearances I just knew something wasn't right. He will be missed for sure.
