Prep wash and detail interior, head detailing, 2 cutting steps, another wash, protection step, decon and wash exterior, 5 sanding steps, 2 cutting steps, another full boat wash, more detailing, and a marine grade coating. I really hope u got around $200 a foot. This is an exhausting amount of work I hope u value yourself! Great job. I spent 2.5 days solo detailing and preparing a brand new ranger 25 footer that got a full marine grade coating and non skid got a si02 sealant so it wasn’t a slip hazard. I hooked that client up at 100 a foot on a brand new boat. He brings me a lot of work so I cut him slack.

What do you suggest for detailing a waverunner that has been sitting next to the ocean for 5 years. It is sun faded and slight rusting on some of the hardware with minor marine growth staining on hull and jet unit housing. I have a powerful pressure washer and On and Off cleaner for hull.

You can use the pressure washer and an off cleaner for the growth on the bottom. As for the gel coat, I would use a heavy cut compound, such as shine supply heavy cut with a wool pad and a rotary, then work it down with chop top by shine supply, then polish with shine supply wake-up shinesupply.com/products/wake-up-326oz?_pos=1&_sid=e58cbd030&_ss=r shinesupply.com/collections/marine-products/products/chop-top-8oz shinesupply.com/collections/marine-products/products/heavy-cut shinesupply.com/collections/pads-applicators/products/wool-pad shinesupply.com/collections/pads-applicators/products/buff-and-shine-wool-pad shinesupply.com/collections/pads-applicators/products/hdo-orange-foam-cutting-polishing-pad Please feel free to use my discount code: DRAKE15 at checkout 😎

If i was compounding just the topside of my walkaround boat. With some oxidation. Would u think it would be better to use a smaller 3" rotary vs a bigger 6 or 7 inch one. If u were to only buy one machine(i already have a ms8). I know the bigger machines would be better for the hull. But for only the topside. What do u think.

@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing 8 ай бұрын
Hey bro, it all really depends on how big the boat, what kind of shape it is in, and what steps I do do it. On a 40 foot boat that’s pretty oxidized I go through about two pads for wall with the buffing, and about five phone pads. The foam pads breakdown a lot quicker than the wool.

Question brother if a customer ask to just remove oxidation what would you recommend as far as a package. I’m new to boat detailing and would like some guidance. I recently did a boat with heavy cut compound and polish on the gelcoat but I notice that you do 2 more steps. I want to do the job right. The gelcoat came out great but I want to ensure to the client that I’m doing my best and charging accordingly to what I’m doing. Blessings!!!
@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing 8 ай бұрын
Hey bro, as far as a package goes, a oxidation removal package basically starts with the removal of oxidation as needed, then after the oxidation is removed, you also have to finish out and swear we remove the gel coat, then seal it. You can’t just remove the oxidation and not finish it out, that won’t leave it looking very good. So my two extra steps after the actual compounding step is just to ensure the best quality shine and protection so the major oxidation doesn’t happen again.

@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing 9 ай бұрын
If you want one machine that you technically can do it all with, a rotary buffer would probably be your best pet. It can cut really heavy, but you can also finish with it, it just won’t be the absolute prettiest. If forest rotation machine can remove swirls and create an amazing finish, but at the end of the day it can’t remove severe oxidation.
