The fact that you explain to your customers that you could not reach the wheel in all the areas blocked by hardware, shows that you are an honest salesman. Funny enough, customers won't notice 99% of the things you explain to them, at least that's what I have found with auto detailing - but we clean 110% of the vehicle/boat regardless! Awesome videos, got me subbed.

Have you replaced it with the Abranet completely? If so, with the Abranet backing pad, do the grits between the two act the same? Do they last any longer? Thank you for a lot. Tim

Hey man! Really appreciate your videos and info. Wanting your advice ~ my dad dry sanded the lower portion of our family ski boat with 150 grit (big time ouch / mistake) on the lower portion of port and starboard only. My plan was to use 1000 grit wet sand to smooth this out , then 600 and 400 compounds….do you think the gap between 150 and 1000 for the wet sand is too big? I.e I should use say 500 wet sand in between? I don’t want to take much off but I need to get rid of those 150 grit sandpaper marks….thank you!!
@DrakesDetailing
@DrakesDetailing Жыл бұрын
Do the 1000 in a spot and then compound with something heavy after and see how it looks. If that doesn’t cut it then you can try 500 in between, but just be careful. It is very agressive

What a great teaching tool! When you did your interior detail, I didn’t notice you flipping up the seats to get in between the seat and the upright. This is where I have the most issue as there is almost always a build up of organic (I assume) that stains the contact points. I’ve tried almost everything I know but it doesn’t come out. Any suggestions?

How about multi year costings in marine? I get some coatings from the US. (For cars) and the company I get stuff from DPC has multi year coatings for marine. I know might not be good for repeat polishing/compounding as far as business. Glad you brought up the coating being about the same as a sealant. In the automotive field lots of the spray costings are now getting a year +. Reasonable price and same time as sealants to apply.

Hey drake great video! Question about the compounding pad you said you use a 1.25 height pad is shorter pile pad better for cutting or higher pile I have a lake country twisted wool 1.5 height pad that should be pretty similar right? I think that’s the most aggressive pad lake county makes
@DrakesDetailing

Shorter the pile hight the more the cut, but the type of wool pad also make a difference. It has to be a twisted wool

I have both the 1.25 and 1.5 double sided twisted wool cutting pads from buff and shine, the 1.25 definitely cuts faster than the 1.5, but the 1.5 does the job if you like more of a cushioned feel. Lake country and buff and shine both make excellent pads, can’t go wrong with either.
