I have a black jet ski that I had ceramic coated when I first purchased it new last year. I coated to protect it against water spots only to find out it still didn't really help(it almost made it worse). Is there a specific ceramic coating more resistant to water spotting or is there another coating that will do a better job for my marine application? Your opinion is highly appreciated. Thanks

Drake I’ve been following you for a while. Your videos have given me the confidence to get out there and really get after it. I’m in the process of detailing a 37 ft cruiser. I notice that in this video you said that you use alcohol before applying ceramic coat. I am using the repel pro and Thor. Is it necessary to alcohol everything or would a dawn soap wash be enough please let me know I don’t want to skip any steps before the coating. I appreciate you
@DrakesDetailing8 ай бұрын
Hey bro, you’re fine with either/or. If you do alcohol, it will be fine, or if you do Dawn, it will be fine. It’s up to you. It can sometimes be quicker just to take alcohol wipes, just to wipe the boat down real quick doing a whole wash job, but that’s just my opinion.
@kylepothast80274 жыл бұрын
As well as just curious I have boat polished to my best of my ability. And it was waxed do I need to use dawn to clean that off then use alcohol to clean it off before I use ceramic coat
@DrakesDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you were going to ceramic coat your boat, you need to make sure all of the wax is completely removed. You can use Dawn dishwashing soap, and rubbing alcohol to do that. Once all of the wax and oils are removed then you can ceramic coat.

@DrakesDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Just doing one coat in this video I went Thur 2 full bottles, I believe when I first did it I used about 3.5 bottles. Yes, if there is no ceramic on the surface always do 2 coats. Nothing different on black, the only thing that would make a difference is if there is any oxidation, then you would want to remove all oxidation first then do the steps in this video! You may want to finish with the white force lake country pad as well, not the grey or orange like in the video. The white pad is alittle softer, it will give you a better finish on darker colors. As for applying ceramic it’s the same on all colors.

Knee Pad can be good too ;) - BUT also wonder WHAT the Ceramic Coat - DO to a BOAT ? What is the Diff - Between Ceramic Coat and WAX ?
@frandanco62893 жыл бұрын
Anything will be an improvement over wax.. Some waxes have evolved into sealants which I guess may be better but none of these things are known for longevity.. I know that there are ceramic coating products for vehicles, but I do not know if there are any really tested long term with proof, ceramic products for boats.. A coating is supposed to be able to handle more bad stuff and not go away for a longer time.. It is usually a kind of product that repels dirt, unlike a wax which is oily and actually holds onto all dirt that lands on it.. Waxes have a lot of oils in them, some synthetic, that make it always look really shiny, etc., but that is only because of all the OILS on it.. Once they get cooked off, way less shine and protection..

Really well done. On non skid that is oxidized are you using your da and Menzerna first too? Not this boat per se but a uncoated one? Thx.
@DrakesDetailing4 жыл бұрын
Yes, or I’ll use Menzerna on a wool pad using a rotary. Run it on like 1100 rpm really slow and let it work in. Then do menzerna in a da. If you do any correcting on non skid you usually have to pressure wash the non skid pretty good to remove left over compound.

Curious about the oils on your hands effecting the ceramic? I see in some parts you arent wearing gloves while leveling. Will the oils from your hands not transfer to the rag? I have been using marine nano shop liquid crystal prop and pro hd. I operate my marine detailing business in florida. Would love to talk shop sometime man🤙🏽 check me out on facebook and insta. Best case would be to wear gloves... but in this case it was 90 degrees and I was sweating like a mofo ha my gloves were dripping so we took them off. It is what it is ha

Tds on IGL Marine require 2 coats. Also require to up&down + left&right in order to apply correctly the coating. Also IGL have a precoat product that is used exclusively before you apply any IGL coating.

Boat already had IGL on it, this was a topper one year later
@maxriganti81993 жыл бұрын
@@DrakesDetailing If IGL marine was applied correctly 1 year ago no topper where required after 1 year. Easy above water will last 4 years.
