A very rare documentary from the team behind Comedy Connections. A great insight into Minder with many interesting views with the cast and the producers.

Totally agree, it was brilliant when first broadcast and it still is! The Sweeney is also pretty timeless and to a certain extent, The Professionals is too, but Minder is by far my all time favourite. I know loads of people my age who've never watched it and some have never even heard of it! I can never get my head around that if you grew up in the 80s!

The only TV show to rival Only Fools And Horses for comedy and character/actor chemistry

Personally I think Minder was far superior than Only Fools....

Personally I don't think they should be compared as one was a sitcom and the other was a comedy drama.

@@JD-eq4dp I remember reading an article by Catlin Moran saying the leads of OFAH were only really fit to play extras in the Winchester Club!! Very harsh as I loved OFAH when first broadcast but strangely I don't find it very watchable now. Whereas Minder is as amazing now as it was back in the day, even though I know every line of every episode! It would definitely be my Mastermind specialist subject.

Best line in the series was "Very worried Terry, 'ad a visit last night from Chisholm and his Druid " still makes me giggle..

Absolutely, Minder was by far the best programme on TV in the 80s and it still is now! I love the repeats on ITV4 and even better still, the DVDs which have not been edited by the PC brigade!

Agreed there was never any chemistry between Arthur and Ray and they were supposed to be related, The series should have ended with Terry getting married on camera and Arthur's retirement,

Ray was great as well. He was a nephew of Arthur

The way I look at it, the Ray eps gave us another 3 years of being able to watch Arthur and several of the Ray era scripts were actually very good - The Roof of All Evil springs to mind! I know a few people who've never seen any of the Ray eps but I think they're missing out - they are definitely worth a watch. Any ep of Minder is leagues ahead of anything currently on the box. Admittedly, I've never been able to stomach the Shane Richie remake, that should never have been called Minder. Minder without George Cole is like a Jaguar without an internal combustion engine! How GC wasn't Knighted is beyond me! I appreciate his mentor Alistair Sim turned one down but I'm very sure GC would have accepted one.

Yes it was brilliant, I still vividly remember watching it on first broadcast, it was the only show on TV that kept me away from my then new Commodore 64! Some people don't rate that episode but it has countless funny moments - it's a shame it wasn't shown at cinemas as originally planned.

Yes that was a great scene, Patrick Malahide wasn't prewarned. Neither was George Cole when being chased on the rugby pitch in The Beer Hunter!

Minder lost it’s way when Dennis left and Thames Television lost it’s franchise in 1991. Euston films being part of Thames had it’s budget completely cut due to Thames becoming an independent production company
